Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype last year October we could assume that the feature could make its way onto future Microsoft products. LA Times has now confirmed that the process is in the works.
Skype has previously promised a Windows Phone app since April of last year and now Rick Osterloh, Skype’s vice president of product, said in a YouTube video at CES that the online calling service is working on apps for not only Windows Phone, but also for the Xbox 360. The company are reportedly also working on the in-development Windows 8 operating system.
Skype allows users to communicate with peers by voice, video, and instant messaging over the Internet, or what could be in this case, over Xbox Live. Skype has also become popular for its additional features, including file transfer, and videoconferencing so the possibilities over Xbox Live’s service would be interesting to say the least.
The ever-popular ‘voice over Internet Protocol’ service has recorder 663 million registered users as of September last year.
