So I downloaded the demo waiting with baited breath to have a look at the game everyone’s (including me) been talking about.
And all I can say is “meh!”
Well to start the game uses the nearly “Legacy” 3D engine powered by Unreal and the Physicx engine. The graphics aren’t all that bad they’re clean and polished but it’s not what one would expect, given that this game was supposed to this genre to a whole new level. But! The gameplay is great. I’ll get into that a bit later.
Weapons & Classes:
First off you have to choose what you want to and you have the option of choosing from 6 different classes ranging from an “Infiltrator” a class that lets you get right in your enemy face and give ‘em a beat down and of course there’s Sniper “Recon” so there is wide choice but the weapons feel the same to me expect for the mammoth sniper rifle and
the rocket launcher. Your standard run of the mill weapons like the assault rifle; shotgun; knife and pistol which aren’t all that impressive.
Game play:
The “Burn-In” spawn is great. You can select any area on the map that want you want to land on and you will find yourself doing an atmospheric re-entry. You need to be careful and use your air brake wisely otherwise you’ll be turned into a street pizza. The idea of re-spawning this way is great because it allows you to land on buildings and mountains
really quickly. Just be careful that you don’t re-enter in enemy territory because that anti-air guns will take you out before you land.
There’s also an “over-drive” feature which is activated automatically while sprinting “click LS”, it allows you to haul-ass for much greater distances at greater speeds and for longer periods of time and what’s cool is that is doesn’t deplete all that fast so you can get to where ever you might be needed really quickly.
You have the ability to heal yourself, this allows you to repair broken sections of your amour and regenerate the force field that protects your suit. Your force field only protects you for maybe two or three direct hits (this depends) one the weapons being used. So if you feel that needing to hit a guy more than 4 times to take him out is a bit much then you might want to rethink buying this one.
The game also has pilot able mechanized vehicles or otherwise known as “Mechs” these things pack a punch and tear through enemies soldiers like butter but when it come vehicles. Some mechs have a Melee feature where you can pulverize enemy vehicles when your standard arsenal isn’t getting the job done.
The Jump Packs are also a great feature it allows you to bound around for short periods at a time, so getting onto that roof top is no longer a problem, and it give you an added bonus when avoiding enemy fire more than just strafe jumping, it’s pretty cool.
These are a few of the unique features offered by the game but here’s sad part.
This game is not a complete Halo clone it only reminds me of Halo because of its futuristic setting but it does remind me very much of Battle Field because of the game play’s core structure. Capturing and Defending control points etc etc. etc…..
If I really think about it actually looks like a newer version of Quake Wars.
I’m not saying that this game is going to tank but what I am saying is try before you buy it may not be your cup of tea
