SA Gaming News Wrap

Just a little quiet around South Africa at the moment. Might be the calm before the storm. Or loadshedding…

If you were looking in the wrong places, you may have missed these via us and others over the past week:

Orena_BftT_01The first ‘Battle for the Throne’ tournament has kicked off in Orena’s 2015 season. 25 CS: GO teams will battle through a group phase and in to the knockout phase of the tournament to find a champion for others to dethrone throughout the year.

The bracket for the event is available here, and you can keep up with the event generally here.

Sadly, due to low team registrations, the League of Legends and Call of Duty (PC) tournaments have been cancelled. Registrations for Battlefield, Hearthstone, Dota 2 and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare (Xbox One) closes this coming Monday.

Lazygamer Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Tournament

The Lazygamer Advanced Warfare tournament on PS4 is moving into the last 16 phase with loadshedding doing its best to disrupt things. Highlights from some of the tournament matches have been put together below, and for a more detailed wrap of what’s gone down so far, you can head here. The bracket for the tournament can be found here.

TTSA Logo_01Loadshedding in South Africa appears to be the real game changer at the moment, and unfortunately, Team Tandem South Africa were the latest tournament organisers affected.

Their planned event last night (10 February) saw more than 50% of the competitors unable to participate and the seeding event for their Virtual Super Drift has been postponed to another day this week. The exact date is still to be confirmed.
