It’s been another busy week in the SA gaming scene, and if you missed it, then we have you covered. Because we’re awesome zombies like that.

A few things you may have missed on the site and elsewhere over the past week:

Sales & Discounts

Kalahari has a standalone PS4 (with a controller) on sale for R5,299 – that’s a discount of R1,000. The offer is valid until midnight on Sunday.

Bravado_Logo_01Bravado Gaming has revealed its CS: GO team for 2015’s DoGaming League, and it sees a number of last year’s key members taking a step back and allowing a other players to take the lead.

Captain Andreas ‘Cent’ Hadjipaschali and Dane ‘racno’ Friedman will be focusing on running the MGO who have “some major proposals coming through in the next couple of months.” The new team captain will be Dimitri ‘Detrony’ Hadjipaschali, Andreas’ younger brother.

Games On Gaming Lounge

Games On LogoGames On has announced their second “Game-a-thon” event.

The ‘Power-Play-Game-a-thon Event’ will be hosted at the venue on 21 February from 1pm. Entry is R60 (which also scores you a drink and a NAG magazine).

The event will test gamers in a “number of gaming disciplines” and over a variety of platforms to “determine who the ultimate Power Player is”. Titles currently shortlisted (but to be confirmed) include COD: Black Ops II (Xbox), Fifa (Xbox), Tekken Tag II (Xbox), SSX (Xbox), MX vs. ATV (Xbox), Gears of War (Xbox), Battlefield 3 (PC) and Dota 2 (PC).

All Otaku Open

All Otaku_Dota 2 2015_01All Otaku has announced that their planned Dota 2 tournament has been postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances”.

The organisation has promised that “when the competition is hosted it will be spectacular.”

DoGamingLeague_01The registrations for the 2015 season of DGL have closed and have seen a record number of entries with Dota 2 taking the crown at 242 teams. CS: GO entries more than doubled from last year and reached 128 teams.

All the rulesets appear to be live for the various titles, but because we know we have a lot of Xbox One Call of Duty readers, the ruleset for the tournament can be found here.

Petition to MLG

When the community wants, the community makes an effort. GWZA have launched a petition (or a survey actually) to MLG which attempts to get the organisation to at least reconsider adding South Africa (and Africa) back into the qualifiers for Call of Duty Championships in 2016, with a few additional questions suggesting the eSports multi-national sets up shop in the country.

If you’re keen to add your opinion to matters, head here.

SAGamer BF4 8v8 Friendly Tournament

SA Gamer Logo_220The community members of the SAGamer forum are working on a – we assume PS4 based – Battlefield 4 ‘friendly’ tournament. They’re currently working on fact-finding for the tournament, but if you’re an interested member of the Battlefield 4 community on PS4, head to the forum and participate. Even if you’re a solo artist, maybe you can find a few players there to form a team.

SouthAfrican Gaming Tournament

SouthAfrican Gaming Tournament is a new organisation in SA who plan to focus on offering Call of Duty tournaments for players on the PS4.

Registrations for their first tournament are now open and “will close after the 5th of February 2015.”

A minimum of 12 teams appear to be needed to get the tournament off the ground, so if you and your team are keen, you can sign up by emailing with your team name, team members and email account of team leader or twitter account.
