South Africa had a busy gaming week that wasn’t entirely local. A number of teams and players saw themselves in foreign lands battling for their country and some pretty decent prizes. And that trend looks set to continue.
ESWC FIFA 14
South Africa’s Shuaib ‘Shuaib07’ Hassen represented in Paris this past weekend too, but sadly for him, his FIFA 14 challenge came to an end in the group phase of the tournament.
MSI Beat IT
Another team representing South Africa in another part of the world were Bravado Gaming. Their Emotion Dota 2 team were in Taipei, Taiwan for the finals of the MSI Beat IT 2014 tournament.
They came agonisingly close to getting into the semi-final from their group but Team Immunity – who were the eventually winners of the $25,000 first prize – fought back from 1-0 down against the Bravado team to win 2-1 and knock Bravado out of the competition.
Bravado Gaming’s CS: GO team will be heading to DreamHack Winter in Sweden later this month to compete against 15 other top international teams for a share of $250,000 in prizes.
The team will first head to Sweden for a bootcamp that starts on 21 November, with the main event kicking off on 27 November.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Media Invitational
Let’s just get the bitterness out of the way here first shall we? The only reason other teams won is because we didn’t get invited. We like to think that it’s because we spend so much time watching the SA competitive teams play at our events, that we were obviously considered too OP…
The tournament – or ‘invitational’ as it appeared to be called – hosted by distributor Megarom at Internet Solutions in Gauteng, saw Lazygamer beat HTXT Africa in the final, while ITF Gaming placed third.
Rather than sulk around here in support of us, why don’t you go and enter Megarom’s competition where you can WIN (worth shouting about it) an Atlas Limited Edition of the game.
Call of Duty Advanced Warfare can be purchased here.
Cars in the Park
Cars in the Park will feature cars. In the park. It will be both real and virtual cars and all associated things. On 22 November from 10am until 5pm at Willowbridge Mall, you can meet the drivers and crew from drifters Team RED, who will be joined by D-Evo (and their RC drift display) and TTSA (and their virtual drift display).
Next week, the MSSA National Federation teams head to Baku in Azerbaijan for The International eSports Federation (IeSF) World Championships. The tournament runs from 12-16 November and whatever attitude you take towards the MSSA, let’s remember that the players are South African and we should show them support in the battles.
Good luck Team South Africa.
- Not much going on this weekend, but if you’re near Trenchtown tonight (Wednesday) we will be there with Call of Duty Advanced Warfare for you to check out. Free entry. Specials all night.
