Good day South Africa. This is your gaming news.
Let’s start with a few reminders. If you missed our coverage of the finals of the MWEB GameZone Masters Series, you can catch up here. For FIFA 15 fans on console, Dota 2 and CS: GO teams, there’s the Orena Life Child tournament coming your way in November.
Kamimodo eSports Cafe
On Friday 17 October, Kamimodo eSports Cafe opened its doors for trading in Observatory. The opening night party featured a FIFA 15 tournament and a Call of Duty Black Ops 2 tournament hosted by the zombies, while Cape Town Showdown were there to host some virtual beatings.
A very decent number of (decent) humans descended on the venue to check out and participate in activities. On the FIFA 15 front 18 players took part in a double elimination tournament which saw Yazeed Dollie and his brother Asheer face-off in the finals. Yazeed proved the stronger on the night and earned R400 for his trouble, while Asheer pocketed R250.
21 players took part in the Black Ops 2 free-for-all tournament. It was Kent Jansen that ran out as the winner in the tournament to bag himself R400.
The venue is still finishing up and tweaking a few things but it looks set to be a great destination for eSports fans – and coffee fans too – as it aims to get the balance between a lounging area and playing area spot on.
You can find Kamimodo eSports Cafe at 238 Main Road, Observatory.

The tournament saw a number of familiar faces from the Cape Town competitive community participate, along with a number of newer faces, but it was Aziz Hendricks (aka Rumplestilzchen) that pipped Asheer Dollie in the final with a 4-0 win.
