This past weekend (Saturday 30 August to be exact) saw our inaugural T-Fest event, which we bill as a ‘themed gaming and market day’. It’s basically a good excuse to play games, socialise, dress up and shop – among other things.
With 28 entries in the Total Gamer portion of the event and around 100 visitors additionally, it was a good start to the new event which was made possible by the sponsors: Trenchtown Obs, Evopoints, MWEB GameZone, Krafts By Witch Knight, Rebel Monkey Photography and Crafting and Arcane Tattoo and Piercing.
On the day, it was UCON Ultimate Gamer, Cristiano Dos Ramos, that took his second crown when he became our ‘Total Gamer’ after securing first spot in Call of Duty Ghosts and FIFA 14, and placing top eight in Injustice. Warren Green took first spot in Street Fighter IV and Rui set the highest score in Resogun. A surprise winner emerged in the colouring-in competition in Tim De Taranto, while Izanne won the raffle for the Naruto painting by Rebel Monkey.
The event couldn’t have happened without help from Dylan Rosser, Blaque Knight, Astrid Lochner, Robert James Klarenbeek and Neal Strydom from Odd Customs, as well as the UCT Genshiken Society who hosted the cosplay, anime trading station and quiz. Thank you awesome humans.
For pictures from the event, head here.
The next T-Fest event is scheduled for 27 September and will be a celebration of the South African Xbox One launch and all things zombie. Entry will be free and we will be detailing the event fully in the coming days.
A week later – on 4 October – we will be hosting a Call of Duty Ghosts 4v4 tournament. It will also be a charity drive for Children with Cancer, and all proceeds will be donated to charity. Details of the event will also be revealed in the coming days.
FIFA 15 Cape Town Launch
MWEB GameZone is hosting a FIFA 15 launch event, and you’re invited. If you win a golden ticket though. But we suggest you give it a try to score the ticket because up for grabs at the event on 26 September is an Xbox One.
The launch event promises to be a spectacular one with plenty of media and celebs (like a zombie…) attending. You have until 23 September to get your entry in by following the instructions laid out here.

While some of the playoffs and qualifiers are still to be decided, the eight teams for the Call of Duty Ghosts event on Xbox 360 have been announced, and feature some familiar names to those that follow the console competitive scene.
