South Africa. This is your news. And it starts with bad news first.
iVentsZA has announced that its ‘StepUp’ LAN has been postponed. While no new dates have been confirmed, rumours suggest it has been delayed by a month. No reasons have been given, and it appears even a number of parties involved in planning portions of the event are in the dark as to what caused the delay.
12 hours before the event was postponed the organisation tweeted: “Some changes to info and the like, but all great news. No longer a 1000+ LAN…Much more
#StepUpLAN” but was followed with: “ #StepUpLAN postponed due to difficulties in areas beyond our control. We will provide more details later in the day.”
After that initial announcement, the news that followed clarified that all but the Call of Duty portion of the event has been postponed. The MWEB Gamezone Masters Series is still a go on 18 to 20 July. It is however unclear where it will be happening in Johannesburg, so as soon as those details become available, we’ll let you know.
Communication of exactly what is happening is still cause for concern at the moment, and it has not been helped by whoever was handling the Twitter account posts at one point.
Meanwhile, the #eVoCODBeta event is still happening online, and the tournament heads into the playoff stage. The bracket has been released and you can find it here.
