It’s been a quiet week in the local gaming scene. While Rush has gone batty with tournament announcements and E3 has drawn all the usual attention, it’s just felt a little dead locally. But that’s the nature of the beast really. It’s probably about to get a whole lot busier soon.

Upcoming Events

ACGL have online tournaments happening over the course of this weekend and into next week, including Fortnite, Call of Duty, Rocket League and more. All the necessary details and registration pages are available here.

On the agenda this weekend and beyond:

  • Xbox Playdates ZA June play dates are every Wednesday from 8pm and selected Fridays from 9pm. You can get more information here about the regular gaming play dates for Xbox One players.
    • 20th – EA SPORTS FIFA 18 World Cup
    • 22nd – F1 2017 (Malyasia 25% Classic Race)
    • 27th – Forza Horizon 3
  • Despatch LAN is hitting the Eastern Cape from 5pm on Friday (15 June). It runs until 7am the next day and all platforms are welcome. Entry is R50 at the Methodist Church of Despatch. Additional information can be found here.
  • FIFA 18 features in the Maingaming operated tournament at The Base in Johannesburg. The tournament starts at 6pm on Friday and features prizes valued over R2,500.  More information can be found here.
  • SA Real Racing are hosting a 24-hour Le Mans racing event starting at 3pm on Saturday (16 June) and running until – you guessed it – 3pm the next day. For more on this unique local event, head to the event page.
  • Next weekend sees a variety of events (mainly LANs) around South Africa, including GAC LAN, FRAG LAN, Orena Undergrounds, FIFA tournaments and more. Hit our calendar for more.
