Trenchtown_Oct Event_01

This past week has been a strangely active one in the South African gaming scene. Matches, results, upcoming events and organisations doing things. It’s all below for you.

The South African eSports Association

This rather snappily titled organisation is a not-for profit association “comprising all competitive titles played by the majority of gamers, be it on PC or console, online or offline. The association consists of community members, is run by community members and its constitution and objectives are decided upon by community members.”

While we’re always a supporter of endeavors such as this, one has to wonder how far it can go without continued support from the community, and ideally sponsors, as the amount of work needed to be relevant is mammoth. So get your voice heard here.

MSSA LoL Tri-Nations

On Saturday 12 October, South Africa, Denmark and Israel faced off in a League of Legends Tri-Nations tournament.

The SA team played from MWEB’s Mcave and faced Israel in the first match of the evening. A nervous South African team battled “like troopers” in what was their first international match, but Israel marched on to victory.

South Africa then took on the Danes – one of the favourites currently in League of Legends – and looked a different team. However, the experienced Danish team took the win, and followed that up with victory against Israel to take the Tri-Nations.

In attendance at the event was Philisande Macwili from the Western Cape Department of Sports and Recreation who awarded the National Federation Colours to the South African team.

Those players were:

Conradie van Heerden (captain) ROCCAT Durbanville
Myburg Brink ROCCAT Strand
Willem Str?feldt 2up Gamers Bellville
Kyle Rhoodie 2up Gamers Brackenfell
Marco Botha 2up Gamers Bellville

MWEB Clash of the Titles Event

MWEB Gamezone’s next title launch will be a little different. It won’t just be one title, but two, in a ‘Clash of the Titles’ event. The astute among you would probably already have it figured out – the two titles are Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty Ghosts.

To get yourself into the event, you will need to do a few things, which are detailed here.

The event itself is on 8 November and is limited to 32 entrants (8x per game per platform), and you need to have your entries in by 10AM on 4 November. The winners will be notified on MWEB Gamezone and on their forums by 5PM on 4 November 2013.
