Ucon_Final_01_BannerThe 2upGamers eSports crew has two events this September which will cover a variety of titles to keep many gamers happy. On 14 and 15 September, the crew will be at UCON – an event by the UCT Genshiken Society. On 14 September, there will be a Halo 4 2v2 tournament and on 15 September, it will be the turn of Black Ops 2 in a 2v2 standoff.

Trenchtown 21 September_03_BannerThe following weekend, the team (along with the Cape Town Showdown team) hits Trenchtown (21 September) for the fourth Gaming Tournament at the venue. This time around, the competition is all about the individual, and will feature FIFA 13 (A Final Farewell), Injustice: Gods Among Us, Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Forza 4.

MWEB Kalahari Super 8 Showdown

The knockout phase of the Kalahari Super 8 Showdown has got underway with 32 teams on both Xbox 360 and PS3 battling it out for supremacy – and their share of the prizes up for grabs. For the standings in the PS3 leg, head here, while the Xbox 360 brackets can be viewed here.

Corsair Starcraft II Super 8 Ladder

MWEB Gamezone will host the Corsair Super 8 Starcraft II Battlegrounds Ladder, in association with Rebel Tech and Toasted Edge. The 1v1 ladder will eventually pit the top eight players against each other in a single elimination tournament, for their share of R28,000 in prizes.

The HIVE StarCraft II Tournament

The HIVE recently ran a StarCraft II tournament at their venue at Monte Casino which drew 25 competitors in a 1v1 double elimination tournament. The winner was Drager, who went through the tournament undefeated, while ShupAs took second place. Drager walked away with a Diablo 3  SteelSeries headset, a guest pass for Diablo 3, a H.I.V.E. glass trophy and a certificate, while ShupAs scored a guest pass for Diablo 3 and a certificate. All the registered players received a limited edition Steelseries Star Craft II mouse pad.

MSSA League of Legends Online Championship

A reminder that the 2013 MWEB On-line League of Legends Championship will be held on 7 September 2013, and that the tournament “may be used by gamers to qualify for eligibility to compete in the National Team Trials that will be used to select:

  • a gamer to represent South Africa in the African Continental Qualifier against Egypt on 5 October 2013, as well as
  • if the team so selected beats Egypt, to represent South Africa at the 2013 IeSF World championships in Bucharest, Romania.”

R250 per team gets you registered (only MSSA registered players may participate) and registrations close 6 September. “To register, a completed registration form and one entry form per team must be either faxed to 086 672 1911 or sent as a pdf to mindsportssa@iafrica.com.”
