October appears to be a slightly quiet month at first glance, but don’t let that fool you. Other than rAge dwarfing most other events, there are always new ones that get announced as the month rolls by. This is what we’re aware of now, but will update as we know more.
Weekend One (4, 5 and 6 October)
Weekend Two (11, 12 and 13 October)
2upGamers Community is tentatively scheduled for 11 October, but we’re still awaiting confirmation. You will be the first (or second after us) to know if it is.
MSSA and MWEB will host a Tri-Nations League of Legends event featuring the South African Protea team, Denmark and Israel. The matches are most likely to be streamed live online on Saturday 12 October from 7pm, so remember to tune in.

Weekend Three (18, 19 and 20 October)
The Trenchtown Gaming Tournament brought to you by 2upGamers eSports and your’s truly will be not just one day, but two days. 19 October (Saturday) is set aside for a 4v4 Black Ops 2 farewell tournament, while Sunday (20 October) is a FIFA 14 and Injustice: Gods Among Us day. For full details and to register for the event, head here.
dAZLAN had an event scheduled for 18 October at their regular venue at Wierda Park, Centurion, but we have a sneaking suspicion that it might have been postponed or cancelled. We will keep you updated when we know.
Also scheduled, but not confirmed, is the MSSA Schools eSports event. Once we get confirmation and details, we will pass them along to you.
On Saturday (19 October) from 1pm, you can join the Cape Town Cosplay community for their sixth Sugoi Haru Cosplay Picnic at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Weekend Four (25, 26 and 27 October)
A quiet one again, with the MSSA Limpopo Provincial Championships the only (current) gaming event scheduled… if it actually happens.
If you want to dress up and pretend to be a zombie (hey, we dress up and pretend to be human, so all is fair) then the Cape Town Zombie Walk on Saturday 26 October should appeal to your shuffle. Starting at 5pm from Thibault Square to Company Gardens and back and taking in St. Georges Mall, the screaming of humans will be heard ringing around the the City Bowl.
FIFA Champs will most likely host their first FIFA 14 tournament during the course of the month. The when and where we will let you know when we do.
Repeat events throughout September…
There are a few events which just keep on keeping on – sometimes weekly, sometimes daily. These are them.
The Mweb Gamezone Ladders StarCraft II 1v1 tournament is underway until 27 October with the Super 8 Knockouts scheduled for 2 November. There’s R28,000 in prizes up for grabs. Bet you feel a ‘nana for not registering now.

The zombies (or at least the one in Cape Town) will be hosting a casual gaming night every Wednesday night (except the first Wednesday of the month) from 7:00pm at Trenchtown in Observatory, CT. The last Wednesday of the month (30 October) will be a FIFA 14 Tournament while other nights will feature some Black Ops 2 and Injustice and others which will be announced here, there and on our social media.
Please note, if we have missed an upcoming event, it might be because we didn’t know about it. As much as we pretend to be know-it-alls, we’re not actually, and need your help in keeping up to date with all the happenings around this place we all call home. You can also keep up with everything happening by visiting our new Calendar. We will update both the calendar and this article if new events are announced for the month.
