SA Community Events in the Week Ahead

A busy eight or so days around the country if you’re a gamer – with something happening pretty much in all the major cities in South Africa.

Tonight – and only if you’ve registered – there is a JHBGamers event.  It kicks off at 7pm at Cafe Culture and will be a part Ghost Recon: Future Soldier celebration party.

Tomorrow (25 May) from 4pm sees the dAZLAN start.  The PC LAN happens at 290 Friederiche Str, Wierda Park, Centurion and will run until around 8am the next day.

Saturday the 26th of May sees a number of events happening countrywide.  Starting in my neck of the woods is the launch of MainGaming in Cape Town.  The event runs on Saturday and Sunday at Tyger Valley Shopping Centre in Bellville and will feature tournaments for both FIFA 12 and Modern Warfare 3.

Over on the other coast of South Africa will be the DBNGamers meetup.  The ‘6th Sense’ will happen at Pizzetta Pizzeria, 139 Davenport Road, Durban and starts at 2pm on Saturday.

The last – at least the last one we’re aware of – event of this weekend is the MSSA Mpumalanga Championships which will include qualifiers for the women’s team to represent SA at IeSF later this year.  The event runs on Saturday and Sunday at S.A.C.E. Recreation Club near Witbank.

The final entry of the (slightly) extended week is the next 2upGamers event dubbed 6th Gen.  Happening Friday 1 June at [venue to still be officially announced] from around 7pm, this event promises to be the biggest one yet.  And we’ll reveal more as soon as we’re allowed to.

Our sincerest apologies to Ground Zero LAN – they are also holding an event this weekend.   Head to Cnr Peggy Vera And Sunningdale Road, Kibler Park, Klipriviersberg Recreational Center on Saturday from 8am until 11pm for “a fun filled gaming day of social and competitive gaming, competitions and give-aways!”

Cape Town Showdown is also hosting a little virtual face slapping at GamerNET House at 45 Salisbury Road, Bellville on Saturday.

Once again, lots of reasons to feel all warm and fuzzy about the South African gaming community…

We would love to keep everyone informed of all events, and can only do so with your help, so feel free to let us know about any gaming events happening in SA and we will add them to our calendar.
