Overview

Just to give you an idea of how bad this game is, I quote from 360voice.com, my xbox’s own personal blog:  ” I was feeling a little bored last week and prodded Spiros ZA to try a new game: Rogue Warrior. It wasn’t as cool as I thought it would be.” Even an auto generated AI picked up how bad this game is…

Gameplay and features

It all started with the cover, the damn cover. Big bearded dude with a big knife = Carnage! I’ll have some of that thank you! Oh how agonisingly wrong was I. I jumped directly into Elite and around 4-5 hours later I was done. 8 Missions was dismally short, and VERY unentertaining, very. It kind of made me lose faith in Bethesda. They usually bring pretty decent games out, this however, is not one of them.  This is your usual run-of-the-mill one man hero game, saving The States from the Ruskies and Nuclear warfare, very new to us all indeed…The game play is very repetitive, shoot, run, duck, plant bomb and get out of the building. This happened on every level of the game.  There is absolutely nothing different to the game and the graphics looks more like something from PS1 or the original XBOX.  Mickey Rourke lends his voice to Mr. Marciano in the game and as can be expected is very bland and downright boring. I did however learn a few new swearing phrases, the man would put a dock worker to shame!!! I think the ONLY positive thing I can say (if I really must) was the finishing moves, with bad graphics and all. Manage to get close enough to one unlucky fellow and you will gut him like a fish in a unique move (depending on your angle to him) with that big knife so proudly displayed on the misleading cover.

One of the many issues I had with this game was the controls. It is very sticky and unresponsive.  For instance, you would be down in cover and empty a clip into the enemy with a pistol, now this is RT smashing, tap tap tap tap, reload without leaning out and your superfast tapping would register AFTER the reload and put one or two bullets into the wall next to your head! The “lean into cover” function has serious issues. Getting into cover is no problem but getting out was a nightmare. Sometimes you would do a 180degree turn away from the enemy, and then get shot…

The game AI was really bad, you could predict every move. There was no “spontaneity”, when you die at one point, the enemy would run to the exact same spot, shoot the exact same amount of bullets as your previous attempt.  At some points you would stand right in front of a bad guy and it would take nearly 2 seconds for him to wake up and start shooting at you!

Bits I Loved

  • Finishing moves

Bits I Hated

  • err, the rest of the whole game!

Conclusion

There really is little left to say about this game, besides that it is bad – really bad and oh, A WASTE OF TIME! Please, for all that is holy and gameness, do not waste any money or time on this game. If you do get it as a gift for some weird reason, slap the person and throw it in the fire, do not even give it to your beloved pooch for a chew toy.
