Red Faction: Armageddon | First Review Sneaks In

As is the case with many new titles nowadays, Official Magazines get to print their reviews before the masses of gaming sites publish their reviews online. The Official Xbox Magazine has published the first review for Red Faction: Armageddon. The mag has scored the Volition Inc. developed shooter at a good score of 85/100 which is now on Metacritic.

OXM conclude their review by saying, “The action does start to drag in the last couple of hours…If you’re excited by even the slightest hint of carnage, though, the rubblelicious Armageddon delivers. We absolutely got what we came for: an exciting sci-fi shooter with carnage galore and some of the most crazy-powerful guns we’ve seen in ages.”

Many of us will be keen on this one as the previous installment – Red Faction Guerrilla – was not half bad scoring 85/100 overall with over 80 critics reviews. Guerrilla featured a fun destruction mechanic which allowed  total destruction in the game. It was a heap of fun mowing down the entire scene and playing through the game and so it won over many fans.

Volition Inc. are again responsible for Red Faction Armageddon, half a century after the Red Faction resistance freed Mars and the red planet is again the battleground. The protagonist, Darius Mason is the grandson of Alec Mason and Samany. Unknowingly, Darius releases a long-dormant evil and Armageddon is unleashed on Mars.

Look out for the Official Xbox Magazine’s full review in their June 2011 issue just ahead of the title’s release.

Red Faction Armageddon will be available on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. For more see the official site.
