We didn’t really think it would be long before Sony put an end to the hacker’s Jailbreak did we?
When you turned on you console today, you will have been asked for an update [version 3.42]. Upon investigating it turned out that the update “includes additional security features” hardware marketing John Koller.
So this got us thinking, the obvious thoughts was that it was to combat the Jailbreak which has been a thorn in Sony’s side.
Digital Foundry’s Rich Leadbetter, a very respected member of the industry, confirmed to EG: “Yes, people have tried it and the Jailbreak no longer works. 3.42 is the only way to access PSN, so in Sony’s world you have to upgrade. However, for now it looks like people who have the Jailbreak are sticking to 3.41 and using a proxy server bypass to remain online.”
The hackers obviously can still choose to not update, but fact remains that will be the end of PSN for them. You can bet hackers will try get a fix, but let’s hope that they don’t succeed.
