In case you missed the news breaking all over Twitter last night, Michael Fassbender who most recently played an android in Prometheus, is to produce and star in a Assassin’s Creed movie.
The Assassin’s Creed movie will be born from the relatively newly formed Ubisoft Motion Pictures, the studio Ubisoft created to adapt the company’s larger gaming franchises to film.
ScreenRant note that Ubisoft Motion Pictures penned a deal with Sony which allowed the independent studio unprecedented amounts of creative control and final approval rights from the beginning to the finish of the production.
Michael Fassbender has now signed on through his DMC Film company to both co-produce and star in the Assassin’s Creed movie. Fassbender previously played Magneto in X-Men First Class, and Lieutenant Archie Hicox in Inglourious Basterds.
