*Not the the actual InterGenerationalGamer

Much like we zombies, today’s gamer is not a fan of photos. However, he is a fan of gaming and that is good enough for us. InterGenerationalGamer also uploads videos to YouTube, making him one of South Africa’s growing number of video content creators.

So find out more about him and his gaming history, and maybe you will find a(nother) kindred spirit.

Go ahead and introduce yourself. Don’t be shy.

Hello everyone, I am InterGenerationalGamer. I am a new player in the field of YouTube videos and I would love to get some more support for the South African community. I love gaming and have been gaming for a very long time now. I have never participated in competitive gaming mostly because I have never had contact with that world.

What’s your platform of choice? Why?

I play on both PC and Xbox One. Although lately I have been focused more on PC gaming, due to the fact that I had to move last year for work.  Steam is also very nice for getting boatloads of games for cheap on sale.

Can you remember the first time you ‘gamed’?

Not really, I first started when I was very young. What my fist game was is lost to me, but I do know one of the first was Hexen: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, which is still one of my favourite games. Additionally, I remember my father bought one of those CDs in the 90s that had 100 games on it. It had DOS games like Cyberdogs, Corridor 7 and Cyberbikes on it which I played, as well as Tyrian. Now those are a few names that have a lot of nostalgia for me.

How long have you been gaming?

More than 20 years at this stage.

When do you think you’ll stop gaming?

Never, I will resurrect as a zombie and come back to play future games.

Are you a serious gamer? Or do you enjoy a laugh?

Both, sometimes you have to get serious with some of these games in order to have a laugh in the end. That is why I love gaming. There is so much you can do, so much that appeals to people of every taste.

Singleplayer or multiplayer?

I like both but I have been limited with multiplayer in the past due to internet speeds. Though I did play Diablo 3 a lot years ago with others. But single player has its charm as well. There are so many good single player games that provide endless hours of entertainment.

Is playing online important to you?

It depends on whether I find a game worth playing online.

Favourite game currently?

Of the more recent games I would have to say Doom (2016). Of the older games I am a very big fan of the following series: Halo, Gears of War, Half Life and Homeworld. I would not be able to choose a single one game among those.

Are you a member of a clan? Who are they and why?

Not currently no. I have not been playing online much due to the internet issues, but we are in the process of upgrading and I would like to play online more and join a clan.

How long have you been making video content?

For Youtube a few weeks, but I am intent on sticking with it for the long run.

What sort of setup do you have for video recording?

I just use my gaming laptop and the headphones which came with it. Both are very good and supply all I need. For recording I use D3DGear which does a fine job.

Which games do you cover?

Currently I am busy with Doom (1993), Painkiller Black Edition, Metro 2033 Redux and Homeworld Remastered (once I find what causes the audio bug). But I have plans to do the entire Metro, Painkiller, Doom, Homeworld, Half Life and Darksiders series among others.

Do you have a stream or upload schedule?

Not really. I try to upload a few videos daily which will be released before 10 in the morning usually.

What’s the most embarrassing or worst game you’ve ever bought or received as a gift?

I can’t say that there has been one.

If you were a game designer, describe your ultimate game design.

Well my ultimate game would be a sort of combination between a FPS and a space strategy like Homeworld. I would have players fight a war against a Zerg like enemy across multiple world and through space. And I would have them be able to clear those world and make meaningful progress. The game only ends when the enemy is gone. Of course it would have multiplayer in which the entire wold can participate.

Do you have any hobbies outside of gaming? What?

Yes, I grow carnivorous plants. It as expensive but rewarding for me.

You’re stranded on a desert island and a genie grants you five items. Name them:

A game: Doom 3 BFG edition
A CD: Coldplay Parachutes
A movie or TV series: Star Trek: Voyager
An organic life form: A Cat
Something edible or drinkable: Infinite fish (Feeds me and the cat)

The zombie apocalypse has happened. You’re facing down a ravenous zombie horde (which may or may not include members of ZG in bikinis). What weapon do you grab?

Katana, guns will run out of ammo eventually and if you just get behind a fence you can kill an infinite number of zombies.

In the aforementioned zombie apocalypse, you humans are all toast. Become a turncoat and assist the superior zombies or stay with the soon to be wiped out human resistance?

Stay with my human brothers and sisters. We will fight until the end! Unless the zombies have all the games, in which case I must say… Brainzzzzzz!!!

Thanks for taking the time to answer our silly questions. What game are you off to play now?

Anthem coincidentally haha.
