Profiled: GamerSkins

GamerSkins_Logo_01No, GamerSkins is not a collection of skins taken from gamers by a serial killer. Although we do have a similar collection in our basement…

GamerSkins supplies gamers with a way of customising their gaming equipment without the need to sell an organ to afford it. We skinned a gamer to find out more.

Hi there. What’s Gamerskins all about exactly?

I created GamerSkins for the console community. We supply decals and custom gear to console gamers because there is so little that a console gamer can customize compared to PC gamers with their PC boxes and stuff.

What are you key products and services offered?

New consoles like Xbox One and PS4 cost a fortune and our decal kits can be customized so that your console can be protected from scratches.

We also supply custom remotes [Or controllers if you prefer – Undead Ed]

The console covers for Xbox One and Ps4 are also waterproof, so if your kid or someone accidentally drops a cool drink or something it will not wet the console. The console covers also protect from dust collection when not in use.

When did you start the website and business?

We are still in the process of developing and upgrading our web site. New changes will be available soon.

What made it feel like the right time to start a venture like this?

After I bought both consoles I thought I can spread my dedication towards the console gamer community and help them protect the machines we love the most.

GamerSkins_Skin_01Your focus appears to be on the console market – what future plans do you have to expand?

Well, soon we will be supplying all gamer related equipment that can not be bought in any shop but only at GamerSkins.

We are also looking into doing custom PC decals and also custom gear for PC gamers.

Who are the main braaaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnnssss (or brain…) behind GamerSkins?

Francois Jacobs leader of The S4LT (S)oldiers (4) (L)ife (T)ogether.

I’m a person that cares for others and also those who feel that they want these awesome decal kits and custom gear  – gamers of all genders, pc gamers or console gamers, it does not matter, we are all gamers.

The South African gaming scene certainly appears to be on an upswing at the moment.  What do you think is needed to sustain that growth?

We need more business to support more LAN events and more tournaments, and also have our own dedicated channel on Dstv  – we pay so much for Dstv  :-).

Do you believe the community has a big role to play in growing gaming in general?  If so, what would you like to see the community do?

Well, we need parents of some younger gamers to be taught respect, as to some gamers make it so unpleasant to be online.

And on the other hand, we need to enjoy gaming and also be able to mix our cultures cross platform. So far we see Xbox community not being part of PlayStation, and the PlayStation community does not support the Xbox community. We need to cross platform our friendships and learn from each other.

Do you get much time to game?

Not so much at this moment. Too many Christmas decals and remotes to be made, but I do get in my hour or 2 from 8 at night just for fun.

I have a family too, so time is limited. Baby boy is 5 month old and my little girl is 3 years old, and the wife also needs some attention, meaning my console. Lol. Jokes, my real wife.

When you do, what’s your game(s) and platform of choice?

I have all the consoles but I have to say Ps4 for fun and Call of Duty is my game of choice.

There are not so many locals on Xbox One to have some fun.

Thanks for your time – is there anything else you would like to add?

We want to say thank you for this opportunity to do this article, as well as to our loyal customers. And to our new customers – welcome to the gaming scene.

And here’s a Zombiegamer one GamerSkins made earlier. Let us know what you think and we may just push it in to mass production, along with an Xbox One decal.
