Register Now for Ekasi Esports Free Fire Series

The Singapore-headquartered global online game developer and publisher Garena has partnered with the South African-based gaming and digital entertainment brand Ekasi Esports on a weekly Free Fire tournament series.

Running for the next three months, the Free Fire Weekly Series now has 96 places available for African gamers keen on competing for cash prizes as they showcase their skills in the world’s most popular mobile-based ‘Battle Royale’ game.

After phenomenal interest by gamers in Week 1 of the Free Fire Series, which saw the 96 available solo slots filled in just a single afternoon, registration for Week 2 will be opened on 03 April 2021. For registration details, visit https://ekasiesports.africa/free-fire-series.

The top 10 gamers each week will qualify for the Play-offs of the tournament, which will take place from the 4th of June to 18 June 2021. All games will be streamed live via the Ekasi Esports YouTube channel

Registration to battle it out to get to the top of the Ekasi Esports Free Fire Series is free and gamers will be pleased to know there are in-game prizes to complement the R400 weekly cash giveaways.

Mobile esports and mobile gaming is set to be big in Africa as it is easily accessible for those gamers who cannot afford to purchase a high-end gaming PC or the latest console.

“After launching the Free Fire SSA Servers, which are accessible to most African countries, Garena has greatly improved the experience in the African Free Fire mobile gaming and competitive esports scene. This has opened a lot of opportunities for African mobile gamers to compete at a world-class level. Ekasi Esports is excited to see what the future holds for the African mobile gaming and competitive esports scene,” says Perfect Zikhali, Creative Director for Ekasi Esports.

Free Fire has more than 100 million daily active users worldwide and is free to download via the Android and Apple Store. Helping to boost the game’s popularity on this continent is the fact that there is now a dedicated Free Fire SSA server for South Africa, West Africa and surrounding regions.

Free Fire became one of many mobile esports to rise in popularity over the last 12 months. Last year, the same year Free Fire was the world’s most downloaded mobile game, the game partnered with Cristiano Ronaldo to become an in-game character called Chronos.
