The Playtopia (indie games festival) scheduled for The Castle in Cape Town on 30 November to 2 December has announced its ” final line-up”.

Playtopia is three days of “indie games and playful media” which will showcase “local and international independent computer games, interactive and digital art, talks, panels, workshops and an awesome music line-up.”

The latest announcement reveals the full schedule for day two and three of the event, as well as confirming a number of other activities attendees can enjoy.

Joining the artists already announced – Inka Kendzia, Ralph Borland, Miranda Moss & Martin Wilson, Danielle Clough and Method Lab:

  • Gif.Exhibit | An exhibition of gif art.
  • Check My Plants | In collaboration with A Maze. Berlin’s Digital Garden exhibition is botanical artist Filipa Domingues of Check My Plants curating an living succulent garden within to enjoy the games exhibit curated by A Maze.
  • Richard Pieterse | Of Team Laserbeam will be building an adult blanket lounge fort to take us back to our childhood days where we used to create spaces for our imaginations to thrive.
  • Phoenix Perry | Will be throwing a Bot Party, where robots make music.


Joining the music line-up of Hello Beautiful, Julia Robert, Uppercut, DJ Invizable, ANG, Haezer and Sassquatch:

  • Holy Funk 
  • R.U.R. (Live) – Chip Tune Duo 
  • Maramza

With activations by Friends of Design and AVA.


PLAYTOPIA starts on FRIDAY evening with a Kick Off Party with an awesome music line-up including DJ Invizable, Sassquatch, Haezer, ANG and R.U.R.
Added to the madness is a beer garden and food trucks to keep you fuelled.

SATURDAY leads into a full day of talks and workshops (for delegates), game exhibition, art installations and that evening bands and DJ’s joining the fold to create one giant quantum space of mega fun!
