Having played The Last Us, and given how critically acclaimed the 2013 smash-hit was, receiving numerous awards, one would think a sequel would be guaranteed.
It is not however, as the game’s director, Neil Druckmann says there is a 50/50 chance of The Last of Us getting a second standalone title.
Kotaku are citing Druckmann’s ‘Ask Me Anything’ Reddit post’, where he dropped the news.
“If you’re asking about a sequel … right now I’d say it’s 50/50,” Druckmann said.
Kotaku note that it would seem as though the story has already been wrapped up, and that the Left Behind DLC add-on had to go the ‘prequel’ route instead of continuing with the story.
Druckmann explained that Joel and Ellie’s story had also come to an end.
He did however say he would be open to seeing them in “different mediums,” such as in a film or television/web series.
“I miss them dearly. I’d love to see them again – maybe in a different medium? We’ll see,” he claimed.
