It has been confirmed to CVG that Rockstar will not be attending Gamescom this year to showcase Grand Theft Auto 5.
There was some speculation that the game would make an appearance at the European games event after it appeared in the official Gamescom trailer recently.
However, communications manager of Gamescom Franko Fischer told CVG that the GTA V footage included was “in error” and that “Rockstar Games is not scheduled and has never been scheduled to exhibit at Gamescom 2012″.
The guilty footage has since been removed from the trailer.
“We apologise for any confusion this may have caused,” he added.
Even without the big draw of GTA V, Fischer was upbeat about the show’s appeal to the games market, as there will be a number of world premieres and surprise reveals at the show.
“Although GTA 5 won’t be at the show, I think we will once again have the most spectacular world premieres set for the events,” he added.
