Press Release:

Win merchandise, cash and a trip to Ireland

South Africa, 17th May 2019 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TeamFinity and ACGL is proud to announce the first season of Mortal Kombat 11 action. During June and July 2019, several competitive opportunities will be available to fans of the latest entry into the Mortal Kombat series. Across a number of online tournaments and a venue-based final event, combatants can fight for their share of merchandise, R30,000 cash and a trip to compete at the Celtic Throwdown event in Dublin, Ireland.

The action starts on 1 June with the daily match-finder ladders. Players completing at least five matches a week will be entered into a random draw for merchandise. The match-finder is a great entry point for players of all skill levels and to prepare for what’s next.

A number of cup options will be available weekly from 11 June with players competing for XP towards a leaderboard. The top sixteen players from the leaderboard will be invited to compete in the Pro Cup.

The top four players in the Pro Cup (scheduled for 1 July 2019) will receive travel and accommodation for the venue-based final event on 27 July 2019.

If you do not qualify via the online campaign, you will be able to compete at the venue in an open bracket to secure a shot against the online top four. This will see a final eight compete for the opportunity to head to the Celtic Throwdown event in Ireland, as well as a R30,000 cash prize pool.

The good news is that the tournament is open to all residents in Sub-Saharan Africa. Some terms and conditions will apply, and players will need to be 18 years or older on the 1st of June 2019. Additionally, you will need to ensure your Passport is valid for the trip to Ireland. The tournament will be run on PlayStation®4 using the NetherRealm Studio’s developed fighting game, Mortal Kombat 11.
