Did you think the recently announced delay of GTA V was due to some great conspiracy? Neither did we, but maybe thinking it may have been delayed for next-gen consoles constitutes a conspiracy theory in Rockstar’s eyes. Whatever their thinking is, they have vehemently denied that the game has been delayed due to the unspecified conspiracy theories and said the only reason for the delay is “because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be”.
Would it come as a surprise to you that Microsoft has a number of unannounced new intellectual properties in the works? Didn’t really think so. According to Jonathan Browne’s LinkedIn profile, the senior product manager and planner at Microsoft Studios, has helped bring four unannounced new IPs “from the very early concept phase through green light to production”. It’s therefore even easier to speculate that these new IPs will probably make their appearance on the next-gen Xbox. And we didn’t use a source or any other insider to guess that.
If you happened to miss it, Halo 4 Spartan Ops Episode 8 is now available for your enjoyment. In this mission, “Fireteam Majestic are reunited, but the Infinity is still under attack by Promethean forces. Unfortunately for Lasky, he won’t know what the Prometheans are after until it’s too late.”
A campaign “drop-in” co-op was dropped (huh-huh) from Assassin’s Creed 3 because it “didn’t fit in”. This comes via an interview with Assassin’s Creed 3 mission director Philippe Bergeron in issue 95 of OXM. “Before we knew about the Desmond story and Animus link, we had a huge co-op component in there… But it just became too hard to do: the engine couldn’t support it, and then the metaphor we had above it didn’t support it. Co-op was one of those big things at the beginning that just didn’t make sense in the end… There was no way to reconcile having multiplayer or co-op in an ancestor’s memories. Your ancestor lived his life in a certain way, so assuming you had branching storylines, it creates a paradox. It didn’t fit.”
Lots of previews, screens, concept art and even videos have hit the net for The Last of Us. We won’t go regurgitating it all for you, but will point you to AllGamesBeta who have done a sterling job of rounding it all up. Except for this video, mainly because we can’t get enough of the game ourselves. And these screens which we posted too.
AllGamesBeta have also dropped a pile of poo… Pool… Dead… Deadpool screenshots, which show off Cable looking a little mean and grumpy.
The full Achievement list for Gears of War: Judgment has been released, and to be fair, any gamer who has played any previous Gears of War will probably know what to expect. The only Achievement not making a real return is the ‘Seriously’ Achievement (at least not with regards to 1,ooo,000 kills or something equally insane…), but almost all regular ones are accounted for in the new game. You can see the full list of Achievements on Exophase.
Not to be outdone by the above, Bioshock Infinite‘s Achievement list has also seen the light of day. The list appears to be mainly story related Achievements with a host of kill ‘x’ number of bad guys with ‘x’ weapon. Hardly earth-shatteringly original. Let’s hope it’s not indicative of the game… Check out the full list on Xbox 360 Achievements.
Capcom has announced positive financial results for the first three quarters of its financial year ending March 31 2013. While profit was up, Resident Evil 6 failed to match expectations, while Dragon’s Dogma beat the sales targets set. For the nine months ended 31 December 2012, Capcom’s net sales were up 44.6 % year-over-year, while net income leaped 104.9% to 6,645 million yen.
On the other side of the financial standings, HMV are preparing to close up to 100 shops across the UK, which amounts to around 1 500 jobs being lost. The information is to a Telegraph source “close to HMV”, who has said that the affected stores will remain open until their stock runs out.
Crytek have said they are not interested in pursuing Darksiders 3 following their employment of key Vigil Entertainment staff after the collapse of THQ. We assume that doesn’t mean the end of the franchise – so long as someone snaps up the IP which seems to be floating in the wind at the moment.
Keeping with ex-THQ stuff, Koch Media is convinced that a new Saints Row and the in development Metro will be out this year. Metro Last Light we can understand, but there has been no real mention of a “new” Saints Row.
It seems to be a game from another time, but a blooper reel from L.A. Noire has been released by Depth Analysis, the firm that created the face mapping technology used in the game. Laugh at botched lines. Chortle at the mischievous antics of the cast.
A new trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has been released. The spotlight for this trailer is thrown on the ‘Unmanned Gears’, which include the Gekkos.
