What has Microsoft revealed at Gamescom 2013? What little secrets did they keep and only let the attending media and VIPs get first hand access to?

This stuff…

The rumours were true – for Europe at least. If you pre-order the Xbox One, you will get FIFA 14 chucked in for free. Gratis! Niks! Apparently, the Xbox One is also the “home of football”. By that, Microsoft means you will also be getting exclusive content on the Xbox versions of FIFA 14 Ultimate Team. Exclusive legendary players in gold packs including Dennis Bergkamp, Freddie Ljungberg and Ruud Gullit will be available, with additional legends in the future including Pele, Patrick Vieira and Gary Lineker.

A premium edition of the Xbox One has been announced, which will include a download code for Call of Duty Ghosts. It was also announced that the Xbox One version of Call Of Duty: Ghosts will feature dedicated servers, and will use the cloud to run them. A new multiplayer mode called ‘Blitz’ was shown off on the multiplayer map, Chasm (a ruined city street setting). It is an objective based mode and uses teleporting…

Xbox One will feature free indie self-publishing. The initiative – called the ID@Xbox Program – will allow each registered developer to receive two development kits at no cost, and developers will have access to the full power of the console, cloud services, Kinect and the Xbox Live toolset, which includes Xbox SmartGlass, multiplayer, Achievements and Gamerscore, among other things. Applications to the will be accepted from 20th August at

There are no application fees, and as with Xbox 360, there are no fees for certification or title updates. A global support team, headed up by ID@Xbox director Chris Charla will be available to developers. Microsoft will locate all the games together on the Xbox One Store, and promise “rich search scenarios” when using Kinect voice search to ensure easy discoverability. Ubisoft has promised exclusive Xbox One content for The Division – both before and after the game’s release. No details were given on what that might include, but expect additional missions we guess.

Lionhead Studios announced Fable Legends, which allows you to be the hero or the villain. In the game, you “will never be alone. You can play the game single player, with a party of three A.I companions that follow your lead. Or, you can play cooperatively with up to three of your friends to discover the game’s quests and content.” The game is set 400 years before the first game, during the series’ Age of Heroes and SmartGlass integration will allow another player to act as a villain – setting traps and interacting with a 4-player hero party via a top-down perspective. Ubisoft lifted the lid – and confirmed – a Kinect exclusive fighter called Fighter Within with this trailer. There are also a few screenshots available here.

Another Kinect exclusive was Kinect Sports Rivals, which featured scary realism. Yourself. In. The. Game. Watch.

Minecraft developer Mojang revealed their new game Cobalt for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Two PopCap titles – Peggle 2 and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will launch first on Xbox One. Peggle 2 will be an Xbox One launch title, while Plants vs. Zombies will arrive next year.

Crytek has announced that Xbox One exclusive Ryse features co-operative multiplayer mode called Gladiator, which sees players teaming up in a Coliseum to take on an “ever-changing horde of enemies”. Screenshots here.
