For SA gamers waiting for the official arrival of Live, any talk of price increases will send a shiver down the spine. Heck, we don’t even know how much we’ll be paying come November, but so far, some of the rest of the world will be paying more than they have been.
So, what’s the happening that’s happening then? According to Major Nelson, prices for Xbox Live Gold will increase from 1 November in the USA, Canada, Mexico and the UK. The price hike in the UK only appears to apply to monthly purchases, which go up from £4.99/month to £5.99/month. However, in the US, the 12-month sub has gone up by $10, the 3-month has gone up by $5 and the 1-month by $2.
The official blurb, as repeated by Mr Hyrb, is: “Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same. We’re confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry.”
