You can expect PES 2012, NeverDead, Silent Hill Downpour and some Metal Gear Solid (and more) at the Konami booth this year.
With just one day until the gaming industry descends on Cologne, Germany, for the 2011 gamescom exhibition, Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has revealed the full line-up of playable titles it will be showcasing.
KONAMI can be found in Hall 7.1 B31, and will have 17 playable titles for attendees to sample. Leading the line is PES 2012, which will allow visitors to sample the Active AI and Teammate Control elements that have been met with universal praise. PES 2012 will be released for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC on September 29th, and the publisher will use the Cologne gathering to reveal release dates for additional formats and other news.
Silent Hill Downpour will also be present, with the PlayStation®3 version shown in all its 3D glory. Developed by Vatra games, this stunning return to form for the series will be released for the Sony machine and for Xbox 360 in November, and the gamescom demo offers an eerie insight into the newly expanded game map and the horrors faced by its convict anti-hero, Murphy Pendleton.
Hideo Kojima’s METAL GEAR SOLID series celebrates 25 years of stealth action in 2012, and two updated classics will be showing their colours on the show floor. METAL GEAR SOLID: SNAKE EATER 3D will be dazzling users with its immersive locations and updated gameplay for Nintendo 3DS, while the eagerly-awaited METAL GEAR SOLID: HD COLLECTION will be represented by the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER. Both games will be released in the winter, with the HD COLLECTION also including new HD remastered versions of METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY and METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER
NeverDead, the collaboration between KONAMI producer Shinta Nojiri and Rebellion, will also be present. NeverDead is an action-packed 3D epic, with the player cast as Bryce, an immortal demon hunter who is part of an agency sent to fight demonic invasions.
Unique to NeverDead, Bryce can survive virtually anything – including dismemberment and can exist as just a rolling head as he looks to retrieve lost limbs and body parts. With its skewed humour and all-action mix of combat and puzzling, NeverDead is a truly original action title due for release in the winter – but players can experience controlling Bryce in his entirety or in pieces for the first time.
KONAMI’s commitment to original IPs is also demonstrated as Blades of Time and Birds of Steel are shown for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The first is a stunning 3D action title with a time-travel element, while Gaijin then show their aviation skills in Birds of Steel’s breath-taking air combat simulation. These two formats also play host to El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, a stunning 3D action title, due out September 8th. The originality theme is then continued as Nintendo 3DS action-puzzle Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights takes to the streets of 19th century Paris.
A wide range of digital titles are also on offer, from the first Kinect for Xbox 360 on Xbox LIVE Arcade title, Leedmees, through to all-action Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, 2D fighter Skullgirls for the same formats. The PlayStation®3 conversion of Castlevania: Harmony of Despair will also be shown, as will Xbox 360-exclusive Burgertime World Tour, and the Xbox 360 build of Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour (will be released for Windows PC, too).
Finally, after 30 years of dodging traffic, KONAMI will be showing veteran amphibian Frogger in his new Nintendo 3DS outing, Frogger 3D, while Beyblade Metal Masters: Nightmare REX will be spinning on to Nintendo DS at the show. Both are released in November.
