The event is a one day community gaming event intended to ‘connect communities’. It will be an opportunity for Cape Town gamers and geeks, and members of the two Facebook groups to meet and socialise, play games and shop at vendors. Winning prizes and swag is of course an added bonus. Come dressed as your favourite game (or geek) character and if you are voted the fan favourite, then you will walk away with a prize.
A variety of gaming competitions are on the cards. Finish the day with the fastest lap on the racing simulators and you will walk away with a prize. PUBG Mobile (via your own device) and Apex Legends (on supplied devices) will host a leaderboard – be at the top at the end of the day and you will secure a prize. Fighting games will feature in two-hour cycles. Be the ‘King of the Hill’ at the close of each cycle and you will – you guessed it – secure a prize.
Redragon will be sponsoring the Keyboard Rebuild Race. And just as it suggests on the tin, you will be tasked with rebuilding a mechanical keyboard in the fastest time to win a prize. It’s important to note that the current fastest time was set at rAge this year, and Cape Town needs a hero to beat a time of 4:14. Can that hero be you?
The event will also play host to the finals of the Rocomamas Smashball Series, where the best players from Gauteng and Cape Town will face off for their piece of the cash prize pool on offer. The morning and early afternoon will play host to a final qualifier for those that failed to secure spots at the 14 branch events. Registrations and details of the day’s qualifier and finals will be found on ACGL’s site soon.
There are other activities planned, so why not keep the day aside to come along and meet up with like-minded souls? Also, a portion of the event proceeds will be donated to charity. So gaming and feeling good all in one.
