Halo Creative Director Leaves Halo 4

Kotaku has confirmed that one of Halo’s game’s creative directors, Ryan Payton is leaving the Microsoft’s in-house Halo arm, 343 Industries and therefore Halo 4.

It is definitely not on bad terms as Payton told Kotaku that he had “a great run at Microsoft,” and that he didn’t regret one day of it. Peyton explained that after a few years, there came a point where he “wasn’t creatively excited” about the Halo 4 project anymore.

“The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different and I don’t think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavor through,” he added.

Payton reassures the site that he thinks Halo 4 will not be a bad game as the core team is top flight, and the team reportedly want to make the best Halo they can

Payton’s has already started up his own studio, Camouflaj, and is reported to be working on two new titles.

“Some people say I’m crazy, but I want to make a game that one billion people play at once, and it’s something that hits them harder than a great book or film,” he explains.
