Activision kept this one under the radar it seems, but has now confirmed that they are currently working on a new open-world game called True Crime, set for release in autumn in the US. Now the bit that got me interested is that it is inspired by classic Hollywood and Asian cinema style action thrillers. True Crime is being developed from scratch by United Front Games and the story is of detective Wei Shen who infiltrates one of Hong Kong’s notorious Triad crime syndicates… swwweeet!
As a newly hired thug within the Triad organization, Wei must do whatever it takes to keep his cover which sometimes clashes with his duty as a cop and as a Triad. Wei will need to work his way up the ranks of the underworld. The game will have you use martial arts combat, gunfights, driving sequences and acrobatic free-running chases through the exciting and dangerous Hong Kong. Gamers will have worked through from downtown Hong Kong to the fish markets of Aberdeen and beyond with a wide variety of story missions in sandbox format.
Well it has a strong storyline and backed by a big publisher, I will keep an eye out for more on this one.
True Crime will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
