Battlefield 3 players, you have 96 hours of double XP coming your way this weekend.  Kicking off on 9 May at 2am PST (9am GMT) and running until 13 May, the double XP will be available on ranked servers across all platforms.

The “next chapter of Xbox” will be on show at Gamescom this August.  Xbox EMEA social marketing manager Graeme Boyd tweeted so yesterday.

EA has said it has a “great reveal for E3”, with new games from DICE and BioWare, as well as Frostbite 3.0 and the ubiquitous sports games all being present at expo in LA.  The publisher has also said it has 11 major games coming in its 2014 financial year.

On the flipside to this positivity, EA has said you can’t expect a Star Wars game from them before April 2014.  Frostbite 3.0 powered games in the Star Wars universe will only start to appear in the next financial year, which starts in April 2014. [via CVG]

And still keeping with EA.  The publisher has said it plans to cut its workforce by 10% to “to ‘reduce operating expenses” and “expand operating margins”.

New details have emerged about PS4 exclusive Infamous Second Son.  The new protagonist is called Delsin Rowe – a Native American street artist with an anti-government attitude. He can control smoke (using the PS4 touchpad) and absorb power from enemies known as the Department of Unified Protection. [via GameInformer]

Meanwhile, over on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, you can get a whole bunch of new content.  Our lazy selves suggest you check out the Major for the full list which includes DLC for Injustice and Borderlands 2, along with some other stuff.

One of the items released is the map pack for Tomb Raider.  The ‘Shipwrecked’ DLC includes two new maps and is 103.82 MB in size.  It will cost you 320MS Points on XBL, £2.49 / €2.99 / $3.99 on Steam and $3.99 on US PSN.  It arrives during the course of today on the European PSN priced at £2.39 / €2.99.

Drama appears to be the keyword as Assassin’s Creed designer Patrice Desilets was “unceremoniously escorted” out of the Ubisoft Montreal building after he was handed a termination notice.  Read more on Polygon.

Pre-ordering the special edition of Beyond: Two Souls will net you an additional 30 minutes of playable story.  The contents of the special edition has also been detailed here.

The demo for Insomniac’s Fuse is now available on Xbox Live.  The download weighs in at around 1.45 GB and is exclusive to Gold subscribers.  PSN Europe gamers can download the demo from later today.  A new trailer has been released to celebrate the fact.  The game arrives in a few weeks time.

The first gameplay footage from Splinter Cell: Blacklist‘s multiplayer has been released.  The multiplayer will bring the “classic” 2v2 mode as well as a new 4v4 mode.

Meet the President in this new trailer for Saints Row IV.  It’s a little mad as can be expected.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing has been dated for release on PC.  The action RPG will be available on Steam from 22 May for $14.99.  There is no mention of the release on console, but there is a trailer.

Dead or Alive Ultimate 5 is official.  It’s coming soon and to Xbox 360 and PS3, and… that’s about all that is know for now.
