Need for Speed Rivals is this week’s PS3 ‘Deal of the Week‘ on the EU PS Store. Until 12 March, the game will be available for the low price of £19.99/€29.99/AU$39.95.

Guerrilla Games have responded to the hoo-ha surrounding the accusations of them misleading gamers, after they had said Killzone Shadow Fall would run at a native 1080p resolution, only for Digital Foundry to prove that wrong – at least in multiplayer, which runs at an odd 960×1080 resolution. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle will be released on 25 April in Europe and 29 April in North America exclusively for the PS3.

Defense Grid 2 will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and – as previously confirmed – PC. 505 Games will be handling the publishing duties.

A new item crafting mechanic, along with a new farming system and user interface is coming to survival game Rust. The update is unlikely to appear for at least a week still. [More on Play Rust]

Gearbox has revealed their plans to release both classic and remastered versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2. The Classic versions of the games will be updated only to work with modern operating systems, while the Remastered versions will also feature “multiplayer for both games has been combined into one centralized mode”. Deus Ex The Fall and a couple of Tomb Raider games have been discounted on iOS to 99p/99c until next Monday, 10 March.


To use the new Xbox One stereo headset adapter, users will need to update their console, and their controller. It doesn’t mean buying a new one, but simply following some on-screen instruction with the adapter plugged in to the controller with the headset. Full instructions are available on CVG.

Microsoft has announced a Forza 5 Xbox One bundle, which will be available to “selected retailers” in the US for $499.


A number of Irrational Games‘ employees have started talking publicly of the shock closure of the studio. You can read it all on Polygon.

The Last of Us movie is in the works at Screen Gems. Producer Sam Raimi and his studio Ghost House Pictures have been signed on to make the film with assistance from members of Naughty Dog. [More on CVG]

Jack Tretton is stepping down as SCEA president and CEO on 31 March. Sony Network Entertainment International EVP and COO Shawn Layden will be taking over the role vacated by Tretton. [More on Eurogamer]

Tomb Raider (the reboot) will have surpassed 6 million units by the end of the month according to Square Enix, and will have “achieved profitability back”. [More on Eurogamer]

Disney Interactive has laid off around 700 staff members (roughly a quarter of its global staff) to allow the company to “focus not just on getting to profitability but sustained profitability and scalability.” [More on CVG]

The Serious Sam team is working on a game described as “a cross between Portal and The Witness”. Along with this new IP, Croteam is still busy with Serious Sam 4 which is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014. [More on CVG]

The original founders of Criterion, Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry, have started a new indie studio called Three Fields Entertainment. Speaking via Twitter, Alex Ward said that they “will make games for all platforms where we can self-publish,” but that the Wii U isn’t likely.

The next bit of DLC for Call of Duty Ghosts has been detailed. ‘Devastation’ will be a timed exclusive for the Xbox and will arrive on 3 April. The pack will feature four new small to medium-sized multiplayer maps including a re-imagining of the classic map ‘Dome’. A new 2-in-1 tactical weapon called the “Ripper” will be included, along with episode two for Extinction called ‘Mayday’. Watch Dogs has been dated. The game will be out on 27 May for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Wii U will follow “later”.
