When there’s next-gen rumours, you know where you will find it. Right here -> “Insiders” are claiming that Microsoft’s next Xbox will be offered for $300 with a two-year subscription fee. According to respected tech blogger Paul Thurrott the console will be offered as a one-off payment of $500 or – like mobile phones – an initial charge of $300 subsidised by a 24-month commitment of $15 per month which will include Xbox Live. Sticking with next-gen, but moving to actual fact. Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has said that the PS4 ‘Share’ button can be fully controlled by the developer. It will be up to the developer if and when they want to enable the share feature. “There will be parts of a game that the maker does not want people to be able to see… For example, on Vita, developers can in certain scenes disable the feature that lets users take a screenshot, and [the Share function] will have a similar mechanism… The creator may not want to make video of the final boss sharable, for instance.” [4gamer via CVG]
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon voice actor Michael Biehn has said the game may turn into a franchise. According to the actor, the game’s Creative Director, Dean Evans, is in discussions to develop a sequel. [via Major Nelson]
The Dishonored pre-order DLC will become available to everyone from next week. The bundle – ‘The Void Walker’s Arsenal Pack’ – includes all our DLC packs which were originally exclusive to pre-order customers on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It will be out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in the US on 14 May, with European PS3 gamers receiving it the next day. It will cost 320MSP on 360 and $3.99 on other platforms.
Sleeping Dogs will be available for free on PS Plus Instant Games on 7 May (US). Other games available will be Pinball Arcade on PS3, and Knytt Underground and BlazBlue: Contiuum Shift Extend on PS3 and Vita. [via Joystiq]
Batgirl has been confirmed as character DLC for Injustice: Gods Among Us. “Looks like the bat’s out of the bag,” said NetherRealm via Twitter. “Batgirl is a playable DLC character in Injustice. Catch her gameplay next week.” [via CVG]
If you thought South Park: The Stick of Truth would disappear and never see the light of day, the good news is that it is still on for a 2013 launch. That’s according to a Ubisoft bod speaking to Videogamer.com.
A demo for Insomniac’s new co-op shooter Fuse will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 on Tuesday, 7 May.
A new developer diary for Watch Dogs has been released. The video focuses on the PS4 development of the title.
Resident Evil: Revelations also has a developer diary out. This focuses on “infection and repulsion.”
Trion Worlds’ Defiance has attracted over one million subscribers in the game’s release one month ago (2 April) on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The PC patch for Black Ops 2 is now live and brings the new ‘limited time’ TDM mode, as well as fixing a number of bugs. A list of the fixes can be found here.
Following the price cut in the UK of the Wii U by Asda last week, Amazon has followed, and announced their own cut in the price of the Wii U. The online retailer has the Basic for £149, and the Premium for £288 (Asda has this unit for £199).
Nintendo themselves appear to be looking for studios to develop games for their latest platform. The firm is hoping to get smartphone developers to jump on board by developing conversion software which will “allow developers to port smartphone applications to the Wii U with ease.” [via CVG]
