Games

A major sale has kicked off on the EU PlayStation Store, with titles like Far Cry, God of War, Hitman, Uncharted, Tomb Raider and more discounted pretty heavily. Some of the specials end on 19 March, while others run until 2 April. Full details are available on the PlayStation Blog.

A Battlefield 4 update has arrived on the PS3 and Xbox 360, both fixing the usual stability issues along with other improvements. Full details on Battlelog.

A new patch for Call of Duty Ghosts has been released on all platforms and along with the expected fixes, the map Free Fall has been added to multiplayer for everyone. [More on CVG]

PEGI has said that it did not censor (or request any censorship of) scenes from South Park: The Stick Of Truth. A spokesperson said that “the game was assessed by us and deemed acceptable for a Pegi 18 rating.” [More on The Guardian]

In related news, South Park: The Stick of Truth has been delayed in Germany and Austria due to the inclusion of an “unconstitutional” (most likely a swastika) symbol.

Sniper Elite 3 will be released in Europe on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and worldwide on PC on 27 June. The console versions of the game will be available in the US from 1 July. An extra mission called ‘Hunt The Grey Wolf’ is offered as a pre-order incentive, and sees the player on mission to kill Hitler (again).

Hideo Kojima hopes that Metal Gear Solid V will encourage more young people to play big-budget video games rather than focus on “mobile and social titles, especially in Japan.” [More on GamesTM]

According to Kojima, The Phantom Pain is “over 200 times bigger than Ground Zeroes”. [More on Eurogamer]

In an interview with GameSpot, Kojima has said that he “would like” to see Metal Gear Solid V on PC, but he “cannot make a formal announcement”.

PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate (featuring PixelJunk Shooter 1 and 2) is coming to PS4 and PS Vita this summer (or winter south of the equator). [More on PlayStation Blog]

3DS game SteamWorld Dig is coming to PS4 and Vita on 18 March in North America and 19 March in Europe.

Hardware

A future Xbox One update will add support for external hard drives, according to Microsoft’s Marc Whitten. [More on CVG]

Twitch has enabled a new software development kit which allows mobile game developers to build streaming directly into their apps. [More on CVG]

Industry

EA has filed a trademark for Shadow Realms. It’s classified as a game, but only time will tell more. [via AllGamesBeta]

DirextX 12 is due to be revealed at GDC on 20 March. [More on CVG]

Uncharted writer and director, Amy Hennig, has left Naughty Dog. According to Naughty Dog, “the development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted.” [More on IGN]

DrinkBox is bringing a new digital version of Guacamelee to PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Wii U. Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition is “coming soon” and brings bundles “all previous DLC into one game and expands the original story with new levels and boss battles.” [via IGN]
