Konami has confirmed the release date of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 for 1 September. The PC version releases two weeks later on 15 September. The game will include Metal Gear Online and has a SRP of £59.99 for PS4, Xbox One and Steam, and £49.99 for PS3 and Xbox 360. There is also a £99.99 Collector’s Edition for the PS4 and Xbox One, which has a half scale replica of Snake’s bionic arm, along with a number of other items. [More…]

Turtle Rock Studios is adding an ‘Observer Mode’ to Evolve, which clearly marks their plans for the future of the game as an eSports title – albeit it a slightly unusual one. The ‘Observer Mode’ will allow for shoutcasting, jumping between characters and more.

Sony is looking at free-to-play as a “significant part” of the PlayStation’s digital business. PlayStation’s Sarah Thompson said at GDC that free-to-play is “going to be a really a big chunk of our revenues in the next few years; 3-5 years. Phil Harrison is reportedly leaving Microsoft after only three years with the company.

MLG has announced its Call of Duty Advanced Warfare calendar for the rest of the year. Alongside the Pro League (with its salaried players), there will be an opportunity for players to participate in a ‘Relegation’ tournament (it’s really only relegation if you get knocked out) in June to secure a spot in the Season Three Pro League. There will also be a World Championship in mid-October with a $250,000 prize pool. [More…]


Xbox head, Phil Spencer, outlined the company’s plans to integrate Xbox One and Windows PC. Cross-buy – and cross-play – as well as wireless Xbox One controller play is heading to PC.

The second content drop – ‘The Ultimate Survivor Bundle’ – of the Season Pass for Dying Light will be released on 10 March. New weapon blueprints and new outfits will be yours for free (with the Season Pass) or $5. Also arriving on 10 March, and completely free, is patch 1.4 which brings improvements to the game’s performance, gameplay balance, online functions, and visual fidelity. It will also add the new Hard Mode, an additional weapon rarity tier, extra rewards for completing the game, more character outfits, and dozens of new weapons.

Elite: Dangerous has been announced for Xbox One and is “planned to launch in 2015”. It will release with all content added to the PC version by February’s Community Goals content update and March’s (upcoming) Wings content update. [via Press Release]
