Microsoft has made improvements to the Xbox One‘s GPU clock speed. The speed has been increased to around 853mhz – an increase of around 6.6% – which allows developers to put more demand on the system. [More on CVG]

Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin has released a short grainy video teasing a new feature in Call of Duty: Ghosts. The video reveals what looks to be a ‘Squads’ menu in the game, with sub-menu options of ‘Options’ and ‘Online Play’. Some speculation is that this might be the Spec Ops replacement. Or the game is heading into Battlefield 4 territory…

id Software’s John Carmack reckons that the PS4 and Xbox One are “essentially the same” in terms of performance. He also feels the Xbox One backlash was a “bit of a witch hunt”. [More on Gamasutra]

Assassin’s Creed 4 director Ashraf Ismail has revealed that  “is an end” to the Assassin’s Creed franchise. While multiple teams work on the various entries into the series, there is a brand team that “sits on top and is filled with writers and designers concerned with the series’ overall arc. CD Projekt Red has opened a new studio in Cracow, Poland, to “bolster the development” of their two major titles – The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Crytek have taken their websites offline due to “suspicious activity” – or “security reasons” – but they are “working on getting all websites fully operational again as soon as possible”. Account holders on or will be asked to change their passwords upon their return.

The Wii U version of Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be shipping without offline co-op to ensure it releases alongside the other versions of the game on 22 August in Europe and SA.

The Fez 2 cancellation by Phil Fish was a surprise to Polytron producer Marie-Christine Bourdua. However, the studio has some “other stuff on the way” and are working with Sony. [More on Joystiq]

The PS Vita is “not performing that well” according to an unnamed Sony executive, who also says Sony plans to spend a lot less to bring the PS4 to the market than they did on the PS3. [More on CVG]

Bethesda has announced a new Elder Scrolls Anthology pack for PC, which is due out on 13 September. The pack has pretty much every bit of Elder Scrolls content imaginable – starting with Elder Scrolls Arena and ending with the Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim, with everything in between.
