The DLC for The Last of Us has been detailed. ‘Abandoned Territories’ is a  map pack which will offer four new battlegrounds and will release on 16 October. Story driven single player DLC will follow “around the December-January timeframe” and will feature “strong ties into the narrative” of the main game, as well as a new character. A third, multiplayer focused DLC pack will arrive in the first half of 2014. The three packs can be bought for a 30% discount as part of a €19.99 / $19.99 season pass, and Naughty Dog intends to add 60 different head items for multiplayer characters to the season pass offering. Sony promises that the PlayStation Network will be improved when the PS4 launches. It will – according to an interview with Eurogamer – “will perform better on multiple levels.”

The suggested retail prices for PS4 games according to listings is between £55 and £60 in the UK. [More on CVG]

Next month’s (October) US PS Plus Instant Game Collection games are: Shadow of the Colossus, Sine Mora for Vita, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (PS3), Poker Night 2 (PS3) and Hotline Miami (PS Vita/PS3, Cross-Buy).

Batman Arkham Origins will introduce the ‘I Am the Night’ mode. The mode is only available after the main game and New Game Plus is completed, and is extra hard and will have no saves and one life. The ‘Initiation’ DLC will cast you as “Bruce Wayne learning to be a ninja,” and will see the setting be outside of Akrham for the first time. Producer Guillaume Voghel told Eurogamer that it is “when he learned to be a ninja and learned those techniques. He goes to a monastery – custom content was created for the DLC. You’ll be in Asia in the monastery. The team did a great job on that, it looks really good.”

No two zombies in Dead Rising 3 will look alike due to procedurally generated zombies. That goes for the buildings too, which will be “hand crafted”. [More on CVG]

Techland promises that Dying Light is not just another Dead Island and will be a triple-A title that will be “something that is close to perfect.” [More on Eurogamer]

Shadow of the Eternals has been put “on hold” after struggling to achieve its Kickstarter goals. Precursor Games’ staff will be “taking a break”, but Chief creative officer Denis Dyack said of the game: “if the time is right we will get together and start it up again.” [More on CVG]

Valve has revealed the third of its three reveals last week as the ‘Steam Controller‘. The gamepad features a touch screen, trackpads and haptic feedback to play Steam games in your living room. [More on AllGamesBeta]

Eve: Valkyrie will not require the Oculus Rift to play, and a console version of the game is a “technical possibility” too. CCP revealed this and more in an interview with Eurogamer.

China is planning to lift its ban on gaming consoles. [More on CVG]

Apparently “many people” don’t realise that the Wii U is a “new” console. Not anymore it isn’t… According to Nintendo UK marketing director Shelly Pearce the Wii U is “not just an upgrade” and the company will be starting a massive new marketing campaign with Tesco in the UK to help make people aware.
