Games

The US PSN has joined today’s PSN maintenance downtime. The EU PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance for around six hours on Monday 27 January. PSN will be down from 5.30pm to 11.30pm GMT / 6.30pm to 00.30am CET / 7.30pm to 01.30am SA Time.

There is no more singleplayer DLC planned after ‘Left Behind’ for The Last of Us has been released. There will be more multiplayer DLC for the game. The information was announced in the comments section of the PlayStation Blog.

The free version of Killer Instinct now features Thunder as the free playable character. Microsoft is changing the available free character for the game in an effort to keep things fresh.

Ultra Street Fighter IV will come with an option to upload previous fights onto YouTube without a capture device. [More on Capcom Unity Blog]

Sony Online Entertainment is shutting down four of its MMO titles, starting with Clone Wars Adventures and Free Realms on 31 March 31. They will be followed by Wizardry Online and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, which will shut down on 31 July. [More on CVG]

Industry

Microsoft is looking to make their digital prices on the Xbox One more competitive in the future. It appears that Microsoft will also be looking into allowing gamers to pre-order titles digitally. [More on CVG]

Microsoft has announced a healthy profit after the launch of the Xbox One, but while they have shipped 3.9 million consoles worldwide, they currently lag behind Sony’s 4.2 million PS4s shipped. It should be noted that currently, the PS4 is available in more countries. [More on Eurogamer]

Namco Bandai in the West will be changing its name to… Bandai Namco on 1 April. [More on Gematsu]

Nintendo‘s shares have recovered following the loss warning issued last Friday. [More on CVG]

eSports

The MLG Call of Duty Winter Invitational is around halfway complete, and currently the two Curse teams hold the top spots. Curse Las Vegas sits in first with their New York team holding on to second, tied with EnVyUs. Surprisingly, Optic Gaming sits in eight position. The current standings are available here.

The third Gfinity event has been dated. Gfinity 3 will take place on 24 and 25 May (in London), and promises to be a “multi platform” and “multi title” event.

The launch trailer for Tombe Raider: Definitive Edition. The game is out on 28 January in the US and 31 January in Europe. The game will be available on the PS4 in South Africa on 7 February.
