News Wrap 03Good morning all. Welcome to the midweek edition of the Gaming News Wrap. It’s either halfway from the start of the week or halfway to the end of it, either way this should take up some valuable work time.

Hardware

SCE CEO Andrew House has told Game Informer that “through the holiday season we’ll be in good supply” of PlayStation 4 in “the countries that we’ve launched in.”

Twitch live game streaming will not be available at launch of the Xbox One, but only “during the first part of 2014”. [More on CVG]

The Xbox One SmartGlass app is now available for Windows phones, with the iOS and Android versions coming during the “holiday” release window. [More on Eurogamer]

A number of Xbox One controller prototypes were canned, but make for interesting concepts. One version created smells to match on-screen gameplay, while other ideas included a small built-in projector that would beam images directly from your controller. [More on Eurogamer]

Sony also had other concepts for the DualShock 4, some of which they pitched to developers. One prototype was a  touch-based controller, but developers came back saying that they’d prefer a new iteration of the classic DualShock design. [More on GamesBeat]

Sony has confirmed that all PS4s that are not functioning will be swopped out immediately and shipping expedited via Sony’s official support line. [More on CVG]

Valve is planning to demo new virtual reality hardware this coming January to show “what affordable VR hardware will be capable of within a couple of years”. [More on CVG]

A system update (4.0.2) has been released for the Wii U and is said to “further improvements to overall system stability” while “other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”. [More on Nintendo.com]

Games

Details of how you can upgrade your PS3 games to PS4 games (for a small fee of course) are available here.

Update 1.06 for GTA Online is now out and brings with it the free ‘Beach Bum’ DLC. The DLC is part of the update on PS3, while Xbox 360 gamers need to download the DLC via the Xbox Game Store. Details of the contents, as well as the patch notes can be found here. On Xbox 360 the update is 64MB, and the DLC is 33.12MB.

What can you expect on the Xbox Live Marketplace over the next few weeks? Soul Calibur 2 HD, Add-ons, Discounts and a Black Friday sale over 26 November to 2 December. Full details are available here.

The patch for Call of Duty Ghosts which hit PC recently has now been fully detailed on the game’s site. Along with eSports rules and Broadcaster mode, support for 4k resolution on PC has been added.

Assassin’s Creed lead game designer Jean-Sebastien Decant told Gamereactor that the next entry in the series will be “much more” next-gen.

Speaking of which, the PS4 update for Assassin’s Creed IV is now live. The update allows the game to now run at 1080p at 30fps, rather than the 900p pre-patch.

Some details of the new IP by Sony Santa Monica have appeared online by way of a job listing. “Open world level design” is the one item that really jumped out for us. “Ambient gameplay and side missions”, as well as “platforming challenges” are mentioned. [via AllGamesBeta]

Fumito Ueda, the director of The Last Guardian, feels “terribly sorry” for the game’s delay. He has suggested that Team Ico’s pursuit of perfection has slowed development of the game. [More on Edge]

Industry

According to a report, Sony‘s entertainment wing is looking to make $100 million in cuts, which may result in job losses. [More on CVG]

The PS4 recorded “the largest launch in gaming history in Canada”, according to Sony. [More on GI International]
