Games

Update number 472 (OK, we’re exaggerating because we’ve kinda lost track now) for Battlefield 4 on Xbox One has been released. The patch is similar to the one on PC and PS4 and sorts out the so-called “kill trade” issue, as well as squashing a number of bugs and introducing fixes designed to increase the general stability of the game.

A Forza 5 update is now available. The update is a 455 MB file and raises the rate at which players earn credits, as well as lowering car prices and introducing the new modes of Tag and Drag Racing. [More on OXM]

The free-to-play multiplayer trial for Killzone Shadow Fall has been confirmed for the EU, along with the previously announced availability in the US. The open weekend runs from 28 to 31 December for PS Plus subscribers and is available now to pre-download.

Ubisoft is reportedly working on two Assassin’s Creed games for release in 2014. The one will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3, while the other will be released on Xbox One and PS4. There is no indication of a PC and Wii U version. The report also claims that the franchise “is under a massive re-scope”. [More on CVG]

The first planned DLC for Dead Rising 3 – Operation Broken Eagle – has been delayed until 21 January. Capcom issued the following to Joystiq: “Adding new content to the massive open world of Los Perdidos is a major undertaking, and to ensure we provide the best possible experience for players, we are putting a few additional weeks of polish and testing into the episode before it’s released.”

Castlevania is the deal of the day in the Countdwn to 2014 sale on Xbox Live today. Th games and other content are discounted by between 50% and 66%. Details here.

Deal number 10 in the PlayStation ‘12 Deals of Christmas‘ sale ends during the course of today. Available for PS3 is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag at a price of €29.99/AU$39.95/£19.99, while available for the PS Vita is Pixeljunk Monsters: Ultimate HD which is priced at €4.99/AU$7.35/£3.99. A number of movie rentals are discounted too, and to see what and how much, head here.

On the US PlayStation Store, you can pick up a number of discounted items in week three of the ‘Holiday Sale’. Far Cry 3, God of War Ascension and more is discounted until next Tuesday. For the full list of titles and their prices, head here.

Steam has kicked off its Holiday Sale. There are Daily Deals and Flash Sales, with discounts up to 80% off, so keep your eyes on Steam.

Reaper of Souls – the expansion for Diablo III – has been dated for release on PC and Mac. The expansion will be available from 25 March 2014 but can be pre-purchase digitally on Battle.net now. The Standard Edition will cost you £32.99, with a Digital Deluxe Edition costing £49.99, but coming with plenty of extra content. A Collector’s Edition will also be available (physically) for €79.99 and brings exclusive items including a mouse pad. [More on Eurogamer]

Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is out today for the Xbox One at the price of £11.99. An Xbox 360 version is still due, but has not been dated as yet.

Soulcalibur: Lost Swords and Ace Combat Infinity have both been delayed until 2014. Namco Bandai did not specify any dates for the two free-to-play titles for the PS3.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Complete Edition will be coming to the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita in Europe in the spring of 2014. The edition combines Dynasty Warriors 8 and its expansion Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends in one “complete” package.

The PC version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be available from 9 January 2014. The game – with all sorts of new graphics options – will cost £19.99 and includes the VR Missions and the Bladewolf and Jetstream DLC. [More on AllGamesBeta]

Warhammer Online has officially shut down. The closure is due to the expiration of EA’s licensing agreement with Games Workshop, and in closing, the company said the following: “We wish to thank all the loyal players throughout the years for their patronage.”

Industry

An exclusive Xbox 360 and Xbox One documentary series has been announced by Microsoft. The documentary – which is due in 2014 – focuses on the story of the burial of millions of unsold E.T. cartridges by Atari. Shooting for the Xbox TV series starts in January 2014. [More on Eurogamer]

Activision have lifted the lid on the Call of Duty Ghosts Season Pass. The pass will give you access to four pieces of DLC: Onslaught, Devastation, Invasion, and Nemesis. Each will bring new multiplayer maps, bonus weapons and a “completely unique 4-part episodic Extinction experience,” along with some bonus exclusive items for getting the pass. Warhorse Studios has announced an RPG called Kingdom Come: Deliverance which will hit PCs and next-gen consoles in 2015. [More on AllGamesBeta]

Ninja Theory’s Fightback is now available for iOS devices. The game is a free download and an Android version is planned, but no confirmed release date for the platform has been announced..

Ridge Racer Slipstream is out now for iOS devices for $2.99/£1.99. An Android version is expected in early 2014.
