News Wrap 02Good morning and welcome to the start of Gamescom. We are not there sadly because we spent the budget on food. You say brains, we say food. So what?

If you are wondering what time you can catch some of the Gamescom activities, CVG has a handy calendar up for you. Events kick off at about 11am SA time with Microsoft.

CVG sources claim that Microsoft is set to announce a major third-party game that will be bundled free with launch Xbox One consoles in Europe. The plan is to improve the perceived value of the Xbox One console rather than decrease the retail price. The title was not named. [More on CVGMeanwhile, MCV sources claim the title will be FIFA 14, and that this will be revealed at Gamescom tomorrow.

Rockstar says that GTA Online has around 700 missions. The game will apparently have around 500 of them available at any one time with the missions rotated. Missions can be discovered on the map, or players will receive in-game phone calls from non-playable characters that will offer new jobs. There will also be access to a list of missions via the game menus. [via CVG] A number of cars available for you (to most likely steal) in GTA V have been revealed by Rockstar. The Half-Life 2 voice actor (John Patrick Lowrie) who recently said that “they are not developing HL3 now for several reasons”, has now stated that he “misspoke” about the project. Apparently it’s now just a “whole bunch of confusion”. [More on CVG]

Cliffy B (wonder if he still appreciates being called that…) is still teasing his next project via images. Not much to see other than concept art, but it can be seen here.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD will be ported from the 3DS to the Xbox 360 and PS3. In fact it’s most likely almost done already as it will be available on XBL and PSN from 31 October. Konami’s port will feature the original Lords of Shadow, its DLC, and Mirror of Fate HD. Minecraft creator Markus Persson has decided to cancel his next project, 0x10c, after more than a year of development. He has decided that he is “going to be working on small games for the rest of [his] life.” [More on CVG]

Heavy Rain has sold more than three million copies since its February 2010 release. [via Twitter]

Awesomenauts developer Ronimo Games has launched a new Kickstarter campaign to fund the Awesomenauts: Starstorm expansion on PC and PS4. They are seeking $125,000 to fund the expansion.

EA has announced Heroes of Dragon Age, a new combat-focused free-to-play mobile spin-off set in the world of BioWare’s Dragon Age RPG series. No release date has been announced yet, although the press release does mention ‘Fall’ and iOS and Android as platforms. A handful of screenshots have been released too.

Ubisoft has lifted the lid slightly on their “internal indie title” based on the Rayman Legends engine. Child of Light is a 2D game which will feature turn-based battles and a “living painting” art style inspired by Miyazaki and European fairytales. [More on CVG]

The EA Humble Bundle has proven to be the most successful one yet and has raised $7 million for charity with nine days still remaining. [More on CVG]

EA has now launched a refund program on Origin for their games. If you have launched the game, you have 24 hours to return the game for a full refund. If the game is has not been launched, you have seven days to apply for a refund. It’s called the Origin Great Game Guarantee, and is effective in 20 countries, with more to follow.

According to Polygon, Microsoft will be discontinuing Games for Windows Live services in July 2014. The site spotted a now removed announcement on the Age of Empires Online support page.

The censored version of Saints Row IV has been delayed in Australia, and is now only expected in September.
