Games

The Xbox 360 and US PS3 demo for 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil is now out, with the EU PS3 version arriving today. The demo weighs in at 1.66GB on Xbox 360 and allows you to play as Mexico, Brazil, USA, England, Australia, Japan, New Zealand or Ivory Coast.

An inFamous: Second Son update is incoming and will allow players to change the time of day, switch the HUD Off, and set the frame rate to 30FPS. Expect the patch in around two weeks from now. [More on PlayStation Blog]

The US PS Store has been updated, and brings new content in the form of Mercenary Kings (which is free to PS Plus members) on the PS4, Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate, updates and sale items. A full list is available on the PlayStation Blog.

Diablo, World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Hearthstone were hit by a series of DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks in Europe yesterday. [More on Battle.net]

Spanish online retailer Xtralife is listing PS Vita game Soul Sacrifice Delta for release in Europe on 19 May. The game is still to be confirmed for the west by Sony. [More on CVG]

The PS Vita version of Joe Danger 2 will feature characters from Media Molecule titles LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway.

Hardware

A new Xbox 360 system update will bring “mostly back end stuff” as well as the ability to “start an rental on Xbox 360 & pick it up on another platform.”  [via Twitter]

The updated Xbox One Twitch app hosted 108,000 unique broadcasters within its first week of streaming, representing around 22% of the total broadcasts for that week. Titanfall is the platforms most broadcast game with over 10 million minutes broadcast already. [More on Xbox Wire]

An upcoming Xbox One update will bring TV Tools, DVR Control as well as SmartGlass improvements including OneGuide. [More on Xbox Wire]

Update 4.10 for the Wii U has been released. The update improves stability and enhances the user experience. [More on Nintendo.com]

Industry

Origin will be going digital only from 4 April – not that it matters to 99% of its users. [More on Origin]

EA‘s Peter Moore has apologized for a “poor attempt at April Fools not condoned by EA.” He is referring to a since deleted tweet saying: “Frostbite will power #HalfLife3, coming out summer 2014! #WiiU exclusive.” It was followed by another saying: “Frostbite now runs on the #WiiU since it is the most powerful Gen4 platform, our renderer is now optimized for Mario and Zelda.” [More on CVG]

Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney believes virtual reality will “completely change the world,” and be “a bigger phenomenon than smartphones”. [More on Polygon]

Tickets for The International 2014 (the major Dota 2 tournament) will go on sale on 3 April at 10:00pm GMT through Ticketmaster. The event will be held between 18 and 21 July at Seattle’s KeyArena and will feature 11 of the best competitive Dota 2 teams, as well as four regional qualifiers. For €9.99/$9.99 you get a new ‘Insurgent’ character class, new abilities, three new weapons, a new harder ‘Elite’ difficulty mode for the single-player campaign, new online collectibles, trophies and a new Insurgent skin pack. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition now available for download on Xbox 360, US PS3 and PC with the EU PS3 version arriving today. The 2.65GB (on Xbox 360) Arkham spin-off will set you back £15.99/$19.99.

The ‘Top Gear’ car pack has been released for Forza 5. It costs $9.99 standalone, or is available free of charge to season pass holders.
