Games

There will be no discount offered for PS3 owners of The Last of Us on PS4. Every one will pay the same for the Remastered version and that price is £39.99/$49.99 when it launches on 29 July.

The Destiny beta on the Xbox One will not run at 1080p, but the final game will. [More…]

The first gameplay details have arrived following the reveal of Doom at QuakeCon. Eurogamer has the skinny.

The Evil Within will be released a week earlier than originally planned. The game will now be out on 14 October.

Rugby 15 has been confirmed to be heading to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PS Vita and PC this fall. It will include the official teams from the Aviva Premiership Rugby, as well as the TOP 14 and PRO D2 official licences.

Hearthstone‘s single-player campaign, Curse of Naxxramas, will be available for PC, Mac and iOS on 22 July, and the first episode will be free for the first month. Each of the five chapters will be released on a weekly basis.

A free-to-play addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise has been announced. Assassin’s Creed Memories is a card combat RPG for iOS devices and will be available worldwide later this summer. [More…]

Industry

Microsoft has announced plans to axe 18,000 jobs throughout the course of the next year. The majority (around 12,500) of the job cuts will be in the Nokia division, and the “the vast majority” of employees to be laid off will be notified over the next six months. [More…]

The hacker who broke the PS3 anti-piracy measures, George Hotz (aka GeoHot), has been hired by Google to work on Project Zero. Project Zero is designed to prevent computer users from being spied on via bugs in software. [More…]

The Uncharted film is set to begin shooting in early 2015 according to the director, Seth Gordon. The film will take some of the “the most interesting stuff from the first [game] and build from there”. [More…]

Episode four of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead Season Two will be available from next week. ‘Amid the Ruins’ hites PC and Mac on 22 July, along with US PSN. On 23 July, the game will be available for Xbox 360 and PSN in Europe. On 24 July, the game will be available for iOS devices. It will cost $4.99, or free as part of the season pass.
