According to an NPD survey, 74% of “core” gamers still prefer their games in physical format than via digital when the price is equal. Core gamers have been described as “individuals who play video games five or more hours a week on a PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, or Mac” for purposes of the survey. The survey also found that the US is home to 34 million of these core gamers, who spend an average of 22 hours playing games every week.
