Games

Far Cry 4‘s campaign is around 35 hours long and Ubisoft is aiming at achieving 1080p on all platforms. We assume they mean all ‘new-gen’ platforms.

DICE has detailed the upcoming ‘Final Stand’ DLC for Battlefield 4. The ‘near future’ appears to be its focus with “incredible hi-tech vehicles and military hardware”. The new maps are “wintry” and new gadgets are promised. Details can be found here.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 may launch in February 2015 after a placeholder date of 17 February 215 appeared on the PlayStation Store. Capcom says the “true date is still unconfirmed”.

343 Industries has announced Halo: Spartan Strike, the successor to twin-stick shooter Halo: Spartan Assault. It will be released for PC, Surface tablet and Windows Phone on 12 December and will cost $5.99. [More…]

Consoles & Hardware

Google has announced the Nexus Player – its own TV set-top box with a focus on streaming video, apps and games. The Asus-designed device costs $99,99 and the gamepad costs $39.99.

Sales & Discounts

A new sale has kicked off on the EU PS Store and includes Battlefield 4 for a discounted £24.99/€29.99/$39.95. Plenty of Battlefield related items are available on discount until 29 October. Full details can be found here.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare is now available in the EA Access library on Xbox One.

Valve has announced the Steam ‘Free Weekend’, which allows users to download and play 10 titles for free all weekend. Games included are XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Company of Heroes 2 and Payday 2 and will be available for free from Thursday, 16 October at 10am PST/6pm GMT.
