News Wrap 01Good morning. There’s been a lack of activity every morning recently because some zombies needed a holiday. And now they’re apparently back after some resting of their over-active brain. Not really.

Games

Ubisoft has confirmed the pricing for the four game ‘Far Cry The Wild Expedition’ compilation, as well as confirming the Far Cry Classic release date for consoles. ‘Far Cry The Wild Expedition’ will be available in the UK from 14 February for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC for £29.99, and in the US from 11 February at $39.99. Far Cry Classic will be available from 12 February as a standalone downloadable title on Xbox Live and PSN for £7.99. The content of the first DLC pack for Call of Duty Ghosts has been leaked. The four new maps for multiplayer are: Fog, Bay View, Containment and Ignition. The DLC also contains episode one of the ‘Extinction’ mode expansion called Nightfall, as well as two new guns – Maverick AR and sniper rifle. The content will be available “first on Xbox Live”. Codemasters is teasing the release of Dirt 4 in 2014. The developer dropped hints via Facebook and Twitter. [More on CVG]

Blizzard is aiming to unlock Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls pre-downloads later this month to those who have pre-ordered the expansion. The expansion is due to release on 25 March.

Titanfall will only feature 12-man lobbies but features so much “stuff happening at once in a map you’ll be hard pressed to find a game that keeps the action higher. I literally have to stop playing every few rounds because my heart just can’t take it some times.” [More on NeoGAF]

Microsoft is hoping to launch the Project Spark beta for Xbox One in February. However, the developers have suggested that the beta may still slip to March. [More on Examiner]

The pre-order incentives for Fable Anniversary have been revealed. The game has gone gold and is out 4 February in the US, 6 February in Asia, and 7 February in Europe.

Ubisoft has announced that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Rayman Legends will now arrive 21 February – one week earlier than previously planned.

Shaq Fu 2 is apparently coming soon. The sequel to the 1994 Mega Drive and SNES fighting game was casually revealed by Shaquille O’Neal when speaking to GamerFitNation at CES in Las Vegas.

Kickstarter backers of Broken Age will be able to download Act 1 of the title from 14 January, confirmed Tim Schafer via Twitter.

id Software has launched a standalone version of Quake Live which does not require the browser to play. [More on official website]

Hardware

A new SteamOS update has been released and brings with it improved AMD graphics card support. The patch “should fix the poor in-game performance and malfunctioning return to desktop functionality,” according to the patch notes. [More on CVG]

Valve is aiming to get their Steam Controller compatible with games like Dota 2. [More on Polygon]

A ‘Crystal’ white PS Vita is now available in the US. The console only bundle is available via Amazon for $199.

Industry

The PS4 has narrowly outsold the Xbox 360 in the UK in 2013, but the 3DS was the biggest selling game system overall. [More on MCV]

Beyond: Two Souls sold over one million units in 2013, meaning the game achieved that number in around three months following its early October release.

Undead Labs – the developer of State of Decay – has signed a multi-year, multi-title agreement with Microsoft Studios. [More on Undead Labs’ Blog]

Former Bungie developer Joe Staten has joined Microsoft Game Studios. He will “help create the world’s best entertainment on Xbox, as well as help shape our franchise strategy for some Microsoft Studios titles.” [More on CVG]

2K Czech has restructured. In a statement to Eurogamer, the firm said: “We have relocated and consolidated our 2K Czech team from our Prague facility to centralise resources in our location in Brno. Additionally, we are transferring some development resources from Prague and Brno to 2K headquarters in Novato, CA.”

Rupert Friend – who plays Peter Quinn in Homeland – will assume the role of Agent 47 in the new Hitman movie. He replaces the late Paul Walker.
