Microsoft is not likely to offer a cloud-based backward compatibility option for the Xbox One. Xbox’s Albert Penello reckons “it’s really cool and really problematic, all at the same time,” but did say that Microsoft will be watching how Sony’s Gaikai service works. [More on Polygon]
Some early details about Xbox One game install sizes have hit the net thanks to the accidental early release of an undisclosed number of the consoles. Install sizes range from as little as 264MB for Kinect Fitness to 39GB for Call of Duty Ghosts. Ghosts takes around 10 minutes to install around 51% to the hard drive, at which time you can begin playing the game. [More on Eurogamer]
On the other hand, the PS4‘s mandatory installs will – in some cases – have players playing within “10s of seconds” of inserting the disc. At least that is the confirmed time for Knack. The installation to hard drive will continue in the background while playing, and users can manually delete installs to free up space on their hard drives. [More on Kotaku]
