Gaming at the Cape Town International Tattoo Convention

Many of you have interests outside of gaming.  At least we hope you do.  Maybe you’re a family man or lady.  A fitness fanatic or a bookworm.  A musician or even a poet.  We’re zombies when we’re not gaming, so there you go.  But, I’m waffling now.

On 25 to 27 January 2013 another of my interests arrives for its fifth year running.  The Cape Town International Tattoo Convention (or Southern Ink Xposure to some of the cool kids) will be at the Cape Town City Hall (a rather grand venue as you will see) and will do what it’s done every year since 2009… showcase some kick ass talent from both local and international tattoo artists.

City HallThis year however sees a new addition.  A small but significant (especially if you visit us) addition that will allow convention attendees to enjoy a little distraction – and even stand a chance to win some goodies – between drinking, socialising and watching the pained expressions on the face of those being tattooed.  This year sees gaming make an appearance.

You will be able to enjoy a variety of titles set up to cater for all tastes (and ages, so bring the kids).  There will be a variety of prizes up for grabs during the course of the weekend, as well as a few celebrities you will be able to take on.   So, if you’re sitting on the fence about attending this year’s tattoo convention, maybe this will be a decider, or at least a deal sweetener.

The local gaming industry’s moguls (better known as the distributors) have come to the party and some of the titles that will be available to play and even win (along with other items) are supplied by EA SA (FIFA 13), Megarom (Just Dance 4 and Skylanders) and Xbox SA (Halo 4 and Forza Horizon).  We will also have Rocksmith available for want-to-be rockstars to try out, with a really special prize for one lucky person.  For those afraid of the real guitar, we will have crowd favourite (and plastic guitar), Guitar Hero to allow you to throw your rockstar poses with.  On top of that, Kalahari.com has also put up some vouchers for a few lucky people to win and Krafts By Witch Knight has also offered a voucher for a lucky winner over the weekend.  We’re pretty sure that we will be able to reveal even more in the next few weeks.

But, all this would mean very little if we didn’t also have at least a ticket or two to give away to the event itself.  From tomorrow, we will be offering just that.  A pair of weekend passes (which entitle entry to all three days as well as the concerts happening in the evening) will be up for grabs, so check back tomorrow for details.

Also, to keep with the theme, we will be running a number of features about both gamers and tattoos.  If you are a gamer with tattoos – especially gaming related tattoos – send us an email to info@zombiegamer.co.za as we would like to include you and your art in a feature or two.

Full details about the gaming setup will be revealed as the event draws closer.  For now head over to the SIX 2013 official site to find out more about what you can expect over the weekend.
