Gamernet has sent us a press release regarding the activities they find themselves currently involved in. Sadly, it does not include clandestine black ops missions behind enemy (human) lines, although they do have a venue you can practice for such an event at. The Gamernet House is situated at 45 Salisbury Street in Boston, Bellville in the Western Cape and has played host to a number of clans and tournaments recently – including a FIFA tournament this past weekend and the virtual fight club of Cape Town Showdown.
The Press Release:
A phoenix rises from the Ashes
GamerNET, a LAN started by Jeremi-Ernst “jeeva” Avenant in 2003, has come back as an E-sports organization strong as ever after a break between 2006 and 2010. GamerNET is now comprised of a training house situated in Bellville, where Team GamerNET and a number of other competitive clans practice console and PC games like COD 4, CSS, BF3, Fifa12 and Street Fighter 4.
Having run some of the biggest competitive monthly LANs in South Africa in the past, the gamers at the house are privileged to have a mentor like Jeeva. Jeeva’s online gaming history goes back almost 15 years, which includes top finishes such as; #1 WCG CPT Counter-Strike Qualifier (2003) as captain of Anarchy.Inc, #1 Need for Speed HP2 & U1 PC (2005), co-owner of Ventus Gaming & Vitriolic Gaming, rated South Africa’s #1 Multi Gaming Organisation 2010 by eGamer.
The GamerNET team is comprised of Jeremi “jeeva” Avenant as manager, a Brilliant FIFA 12 team led by Francois “Fraansman” van Schalkwyk and a Premier league Starcraft 2 player, Etienne “Celestial” Nel. Evan “GroveSentinel” Frickel from Durban was appointed as the head writer.
GNET’s Fifa12 team previously known as BMT & Vitriolic Gaming is comprised of 4 Premier League Fifa12 players.
Rohan “Roebou1989” de Jongh – The captain of the Fifa12 team, is in Premier league
for both PC and Xbox 360, a challenging feat indeed.Francois “fraansman” van Schalkwyk – Fraansman manages the Fifa12 team and helps out with GamerNET related events and administration. He is in Premier league for Fifa12 Xbox 360.
Dirk “DIRKA1992” Kroon – When Fraansman created BMT gaming, he recruited Dirka1992 and Tiaan8 as junior players and naturally they were brought in by Team GamerNET. Dirka1992 is in Premier league for Fifa 12 on Xbox 360 and PS3 first division.
Tiaan “Tiaan8” Steyn – Tiaan8 is the other junior player recruited by Fraansman and is in Premier league for Fifa12 on Xbox360.
Last but not least GNET’s SC2 player.
Etienne “Celestial” Nel, Team GamerNET’s only Starcraft 2 player so far, is on his way to the top of Premier Division. Being a chemical engineer Etienne took a break from gaming but linked up with Jeeva on his return and since then he has been training very hard at the GamerNET house. His determination will surely lead to an awesome spot at rAge.
“Celestial” as captain, is looking to fill a 2nd slot for the Starcraft 2 team in due time. Celestial was also previously involved with assisting Vitriolic Gaming with Barcraft events and shoutcasting, he will now apply these skills at the GamerNET House.
Not only does GamerNET have DGL Premier league teams so far and a kick-ass Gaming house, GamerNET has also got some great sponsors which include Razer, FNB, Interworks WISP and most recently Red Bull who sponsored 120 energy drinks for the Razer FIFA12 June “HomeCup”.
We can expect great things from GamerNET as we go from strength to strength, watch our frag & goal count!
